Want some epic battles? The Civil War storyline for you, my friend!

Depending on what side you choose, you either defend a city from a large enemy attack (complete with a barrage of catapult fire to add to the anarchy) or you go and attack.

Then you go take a few keeps from the enemies, which are also several large skirmishes.

Then you storm a city in the end.

Believe me, it's epic and huge and fast. You'll love it!

For this kind of game, the Civil War battles are pretty good. Definitely one of the most impressive things about Skyrim, considering how piss-poor battles were in Oblivion.

Well in Oblivion, you could have multiple followers, and I found myself a rather large and entertaining skirmish I'm sure you will enjoy.

First, build your squad. Finish some questlines and get a few add-ons and you should have access to maybe about a dozen followers. Have them all follow you to Fort Sutch from the Dark Brotherhood questline.

When you get to the point in the main questline when Oblivion gates open up everywhere, go to Fort Sutch. You will meet four or five Imperial Guards who will ask you to drive off some Daedra. Accept and then enjoy the carnage as two large forces smash together in the fields of County Anvil!

I wouldn't mind the addition of larger scale battles. My poor xbox might disagree, but I wouldn't. But if I was being honest, I want a true 1v1 fight against a rival type character.
Spoiler
I mean ... battle with Alduin? We had help. Battle with Harkon? We had help. End of the civil war quest? We had help(though the last two made sense within the context).
I just want a rival to go toe to toe against, mano a mano.

The idea of large battles does not interest me. In my opinion it is contrary to the spirit of the Elder Scrolls games.TES has never been about armies, or battles, or military maneouvers. TES has always been about playing a lone adventurer.

I have disliked every battle in a TES game I have been forced to take part in. The battle of Bruma, the battle for Whiterun or Solitude- these were excuciatingly awful experiences as far as I was concerned and I couldn't wait for them to be over.

I play TES games to be the hero of my own story. Not some faceless cog in a war machine.

You weren't forced to do the Civil War questline, so you chose to do the battle for Whiterun/Solitude

The big battles are definitely overrated. At least in Skyrim you didn't have NPCs dropping dead every time you looked in their direction. MURRRDERRR
