I want the dog companion : V

hey its phenix i tried to go to Falkreath and talked to Lod and the dog quest didn't open up what do I do now is there someone else i need to help first before that quest opens to me?

To get a dog just go to markarth in front of the main gate/at the stables.Its costs 500g i believe.

Yup 500g and I don't think it ever dies, not even to friendly fire. I am not sure, but I know I more then once hit it and it never went down. Only down side is they bark so damn much.

Usually, you will be told by someone to go talk to Lod. Then he'll give you the quest to talk to that dog.

Were you told to talk to Lod, or did you just go to him?

And you don't want him as a companion - very obnoxious, keeps on pushing on you with his nose, and barking.

On the other hand, that dog can tank a dragon.

This dog is not a companion in the classic sense. He will be your companion as long as the quest to reunite him is active, but once completed, I think he goes away. I did not try to keep him around after the quest, so not sure.

There are other dogs in the game and they are easier to get. Meeko is one of them, the dog you buy is another and then there are the Stray Dogs.

Correct barnabas only acompanies you while on the deadric quest clavicus vile.So just buy a dog or get the stray north of dawnstar i believe...near the port of solitude.

Well, Barbas is immortal. So, if you don't want the masque or the axe just take him. The other dogs are just as annoying, but not as effective in battle.

I've had Barbas with me for almost 100 hours of game play now and he's unstoppable. He is quite pushy though so I found a nice mod called "Back off Barbas" and I love it. No more Barbas' nose up my butt. :lol:

I appreciate him more this way. He still barks but I don't mind. His quest is still in my journal but I won't finish it just yet. I like to have him around fighting along side with me. He's a great companion if you use that mod.

Meeko's Shack is located about halfway between Morthal and Solitude - Meeko's free to get as a follower, but he's fairly weak. I buffed his health with a console command.

Vigilance is the dog you can buy outside of Markarth. He'll cost you 500 gold and if you dismiss him, you'll have to pay 500 gold again to get him back. He can be killed, but he's stronger than Meeko.

Besides those two, there are the stray dog random encounters.

When I get Skyrim on the PC, I am making a special Companions Mod. In this mod, I am gonna make a Spectral Dog that is Immortal just because I don't want to worry about accidentally killing it, like I did with Meeko...

If you play with the sound turned on or if you ever want to sneak, you don't want a dog in this game.

Markath is the name of the town. It lies in the far west. You can travel there by coach. The stables are in front of the town.

Yes, you can. You will find stables at all the major towns.

Horses will only die if you let them. Try pressing the ALT-key when you are being attacked or followed while on horse. Your horse will run faster for a while and it lets you escape.

You must hear it from a guard first. If the guard doesn't mention it to you, it's probably because you don't have the right stuff, whatever it is, level, etc.
