war paint and hairstyles

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 6:04 am

does any one else think that you should be able to change your warpaint and hairstyles in game?! and even apply them to followers! i think that would be really cool. Hopefully this gets Bethesda attention, so comment!

I think it's funny that my Nord looks the way he does when he goes to that Thalmor party (from the Delphine quest). A simple change into party clothes isn't gonna convince anyone. Heh.. Would be nice to give him a goofy cleaned up hairstyle and no warpaint for that quest.

Also, I wish male Nords could get that claw stripe like females get (the one Aela has).

Yep.

Since you asked, thats the one thing I'll whine about with Skyrim. Why no barbers? You had them in F03 and everyone liked it? In a game thats all about growing, customizing, and developing your character, little stuff like that can go a long way.

When my dog died in FO3, I had my guy go on a bender and grow a big crazy beard out. It was awesome.

I know Beth knows because they've used them before. I don't know much about developing video games, but I've heard about people changing their appearance on pc and running into save problems. Maybe for some reason messing with that stuff messes with the new engine? Maybe they're saving it for DLC? I get the feeling it wasn't something that they left out by accident. I dunno. But I know they know.

No game breaker for me though.

Agree 100%. For some reason I loaded my game once and my Nord vampire had what looked like dirt on her face, really wish I could change my character and remove that. Loading old saves didn't help either. I'm on the 360 so I can't use the console.

While we are at it i would like to see an option that allows you to lengthen/shorten youre hair as well. And allow us to see how it looks on the rear side as thats the part we will be seeing the most of.

I'd go so far as to say there should be unlockable styles. Companion's Guild, Mage's College, Bard's Guild, etc should all have special types that you can access for joining, then another for taking control of.

It would have been nice. Bunching your hair in a ponytail or shaving is not exactly rocket science and your character should manage that all on their own, same with washing their face or applying face paint. Hair and beard grow all by themselves and require even less effort. So there should have been a simple, always accesable option for changing hairstyles, warpaint and the amount of dirt on a character. Hopefully in the next DLC.
Bethesda should know by now their fans are an vain bunch, hair and head mods have been popular ever since Morrowind. I thought Fallout 3 had a barber option by the way, strange they left it out for Skyrim.

It would be fun to be able to change your hairstyle, grow a beard, and wash your damn face. Soap could be an ultra rare item to unlock the process. :P

I would think that since alot of people seem to spend hours making the perfect character or hours setting up their house just the right way even though it's a single player game would key Bethesda into something like that.

Agreed, it would be nice to be able to change your hair/facial hair/warpaint etc.. during play, rather then being stuck with one style all the time.

Would had been nice too, if they allowed us to have the option to finalise our character before we left the caves under Helgen, like we had leaving the sewers under the Prison in Oblivion. Sometimes you cannot tell what your character is going to look like 100% when in game, and allot of the time by the stage we get our hands unbound & can pan the camera to see our creation, it looks awfull & have to go all the way back through the tutorial if i dont like it http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?&app=forums&module=extras§ion=legends#

I really hope they will allow us to change our looks in the DLC.

I want my character to change as I progress in the game. So I want to add longer hair, add a beard, add scars, get a blind eye and eventualy have grey hair.

Why this isnt already in the game is beyond me. So easy to add, so much more to enjoy..

I really thought we would be able to change our hair mid-game. However, I though the choices for you look would be larger as well. I can honestly say the character creation system was about a quarter of what I expected.

I also think the over all system for how you look in armor is poor. I wanted more variety and more ability to construct different looks. One set of Studded armor looks like another...no color variations, not design flourishes, no additions of subtractions of elements. It was really disappointing overall with the entire system for how your character looks and feels.

I would love to see this =) It was great in Fallout 3 being able to adjust your character after the beginning and it would be excellent to see in Skyrim as well. Maybe a barber shop opens up in each of the cities?

Yes. This is my OP from a request mod I made for such a thing: My request thread http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1321326-request-barbers-etc/page__p__19863069#entry19863069

I realise this is going to require the CK.

- I would like it and I'm sure many other will if such people as barbers were added to the game whereby you could change your hair style and colour throughout the game if you so choose. Hair grows naturally and can be changed easily so it would be nice if there were an in game option to do this other than using the console. This also should apply to facial hair

P.S can somone please design a Jack Sparrow beard as well, pretty please :bunny:

- Maybe as part of the dying process to change hair colour make it a requirement to harvest certain flowers that will be used to create the dye.

- The barber could also be used to change war paint styles so you're not stuck with the same design for the whole game. It is only paint so it's not stupid to have the option of washing it off and applying a new style

- Also as an option being able to manage scars. Now I realise this may sound generic to be able to change scars but the improvement for role playing I feel would be big. You could start the game as a clean faced adventurer and decide to add scars to your face at a later date... as little reminders of tough battles.

It would also be nice to be able to have more than 1 scar at a time and be able to layer them, if possible

My idea for this would be to just place an NPC (new or give the role to an already existing NPC) in a few of the taverns to perform this service (Solitude, Riverwood, Riften, Helgen maybe ).

Any opinions are welcome

I will try to do this myself but have never dome modding before so am not optimistic of succesfully completing it. So anyone out there experienced willing to do this I would be grateful.

At least warpaint. It should be considered apparel more than a physical trait.

Bethesda should add three new items in the game: razor, washcloth, and warpaint. The items can be bought in stores and act like any other item in that you can drop them from your inventory and whatnot. However, when activated (in your inventory or where you dropped them) they will give an option to change your appearance accordingly. Razor changes hair and beard, washcloth allows you to add/remove dirt (since dirt doesn't accumulate naturally on your character), and warpaint changes your gender. Kidding on that last one, of course.
