Warning to All Players: DLC Glitch Corrupts Saves

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 1:04 pm

Just a heads up about the DLC Content Error glitch, currently being discussed at http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1135534-how-many-people-have-suffered-dlc-error-and-are-unable-to-load-the-game/.

Please, please, create multiple saves- and make sure that you always have a working save point within an hour or so of your current position. The DLC Content Error seems to mostly- mostly - pop up in Vault missions. What it somehow does is create a corrupt save point- and all saves following this point will also be corrupt. You'll get an error saying that the game can no longer find DLC data and then the game freezes. Sometimes it just goes to a blank screen or just freezes on the load screen without the message. The only way you can continue playing to load a working save point.

People with 60+ hours have basically lost their entire game. You don't realize you have encountered the glitch until you try to continue or load from a corrupted save point- which is why important to use some of those 100 slots and stack up those saves. I've warned all of my friends about this, but I thought I'd at least try to send out a message to all of you, who haven't experienced any problems yet and therefore aren't browsing the tech support section of this forum. Admins, please keep this topic in the General Discussion section.

Someone posted that Bethesda has said that they are working on a patch to address the issue- but it has also been posted that it is unlikely that the patch will resolve your currently corrupt saves.

I restarted the game twice, and I have to tell you the early items helps alleviate the pain of the early grind, but yeah by the time you hit the NV strip, there's better stuff available all around. About the only thing I'm still using at that point is the canteen... =p
