So a Warrior, a Mage, and a Thief walk into a bar...

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 8:03 pm

Nord Warrior FTW.. He obviously crushes the puny thieves head with one strike from his monstrous battleaxe.. The mage fires frost spells at him, but his tough Nord skin used to the frigid temperatures of Skyrim reflects a lot of the damage and before the mage can consume a magicka potion his head is rolling across the floor. Nord screams a bloodcurdling Battle cry, then sits down for some Cooked Beef and Mead.

The Warrior. Might be biased.

A Thief could not hope to engage a Warrior/Mage in combat, so they would lose instantly in my opinion.

A Mage and a Warrior battle... in a bar? A Warrior has the advantage. Why? He would be close enough to melee the mage, and the mage has no protection, other than his magics, but I still think the endurance of the Warrior could throw him on top anyway.

In an open area, I'd say a Mage would win though.

Rogue will cut the mages throat before he can speak.

The Rogue will also be lucky enough for the warrior to stumble and fall when he attacks, not to mention he can dodge/sprint away and hide then attack again ;)

The mage. All he does is cast Illusion spells to confuse the warrior and the thief, and gets his attacks in while they are in defenseless states.

Theifs are cheap, he would disapear and kill the winner of the mage/warrior.

I don't call it 'cheap'.. I call it... 'opportunist'..

But.. this is the outcome... what? You actually went up and FOUGHT all of the Boethia cultists? Nahh... sit back and watch the show and pick off the last with a well placed daedric arrow, 3x sneak attack, and a 250 point daedric bow, with soul tap and frost. Thief wins.

The thief sneaks out the door, the mage turns invisible and follows him. The warrior is left behind looking stupid while the other two go get a drink somewhere else.

I went with the Thief thinking that once things started going down with the Warrior and Mage the Thief would sneak out the back door while the Warrior and Mage take each other out. Or whichever one did end up winning they would still loose due to having to pay off your bounty and pay to clean up the bar while the Thief sneaks off with no consequences and a belly full of mead.

It really depends on the players, but I'm thinking the warrior wins, unless the mage manages to do enough damage to him the thief can finish the job with a quick backstab.

The mage probably loses. Cast invisibility and muffle, and maybe the warrior will manage to find the thief first... but the mage's spells will expire. The thief's patience probably will not.

In such close quarters, the mage gets cut down far too quickly. His only chance is that the Warrior is paranoid and goes after the thief first. But even then, he has to contend with the warrior's hit point total, and the incredibly weak nature of Destruction magic.

If he and the warrior fight first, and he manages to do enough damage between summons and destruction spells, maybe the thief can win with a backstab.

Another possibility for the thief, if his pickpocketing is perked enough, is to steal the warrior's sword from him. That might even the odds a bit, if the mage didn't soften him up enough..

Easy, the Thief. why? here's why.

As you all say, the thief would be the weakest, yes i'll grant you that one. So the Warrior will take out the mage first thinking that the thief will be taken out in the cross-fire. But infact, the thief escapes away to the rafters. As the warrior removes his axe from the mage, the thief would stick him with a poison dart or some kind of drat laced with something to daze the warrior. As the Warrior stumbles around the thief would drop down from the rafter, walk up to the dazed warrior and slit his throat.

Thus giving the victory to the thief.

The warrior wins if he's wearing his helmet. He's the only one not knocked unconscious from hitting his head on a bar....

The Dragonborn ducks.

Assuming all three are drunk, all three would pass out once the mage casts frenzy and ends up shooting the blast through his nose out of being so drunk. Then the warrior is going to be busy thinking he's getting some awesome dates even if he keeps getting slapped. The thief probably was seeing if he could use a broken bow as a fishing pole for the purposes of getting more booze money. The booze would be winning.

The thief... who had the foresight to poison the other two's drinks beforehand.

There was no fight.

The Thief would win every time. The Warrior, likely suspicous of magic would attack the mage first. The Mage, seeing the Warrior as the bigger threat, would likely dismiss the Thief. The Thief slips away, watches the the other two tear each other apart, and then kills the winner.

Also, the Thief is likely the only one with a Bow, Arrow to the Knee, anyone?

Well, it's a 3-way fight so things would not exactly go down as everybody is suggesting.

Warrior vs Mage: With the use of summons, fear spells, and frost spells to root/slow movement of the warrior, the Mage would destroy the Warrior without ever getting hit.

Thief vs Mage: This is where the Mage has trouble, as the Thief can simply sneak up on the Mage and slit his throat, I'd give this one to the Thief.

Thief vs Warrior: This one is a toss-up. It would basically depend on who gets the first shot. If the Thief sneaks up on the warrior, he wins. If the Warrior can get the Thief before he has a chance to sneak up on him, the Warrior would win.

So the final victor would highly depend on who joins forces, who gets the opening shots, who's fighting against who, etc.

Edit: Actually, I'm fairly sure that even if the Thief snuck up on the Warrior, he would lose as the Warrior is highly armored and never lets his defenses give.

So Warrior > Thief > Mage > Warrior (Repeat Cycle)

A thief would probably win, because he would have poisoned their drink before the fight.

Simple. The mage will defeat the warrior, the thief will outwit the mage, and the warrior will slaughter the thief. So nobody really wins. It's the same as the rock-paper-scissors 'theory'.

That's my final answer, Meredith.

Unless the bar is empty and the thief and mage have room to work, the warrior will slice them up rather easily.
