Was Armor Repair cut from the original game?

I won't spoil anything, but when you get to certain progression point of the thieves guild, a few of the smithing merchants you gain access to talk of repairing your guild armor. It kinda blows my mind.

No you gain talk to upgrading your guild armor.

Because Armor Repair is annoying and useless. There's a fine line where realism can be fun and immersive and where it becomes annoying.

It was a pointless activity that served no real purpose. Especially how fast the armour/weapons were damaged. I had the thing where the repair hammer was unbreakable and all it meant was after every fight I'd have to click a button to repair things.

Not that. You get the upgrade from Tonilla. They have a few lines like "I'll repair that armor for you" or "if your looking to have your guild armor repaired, youve come to the right place." I'm thinking since these were such hard to obtain merchants, bethesda forgot to cut their unneeded lines.

You guys read the topic title too fast. He didn't ask WHY it isn't in, he asked if it was originally in the game and had been cut mid-game

TBH I liked it.

OT
If I remember right, in on of the interviews, Todd said that it was ingame but they decided to remove it.

I remember hearing this too, I'm not sure if it was directed towards reparing items but I definitely remember him saying something like that about something lol

I hated armor and weapon repairs...having to carry a ton of hammers and fixing after every fight svcked mammoth balls. Im glad skyrim dropped that because my warrior isnt a blacksmith, neither is my mage or my archer

My characters all have 100 smithing skill. That doesn't mean I want to open the menu after every battle and click the A button a bunch of times

I liked the concept of item reparing, but its just always been tedious in TES. If they could find a way to make it less annoying, then I would really want it back in TES again.

I hate the fact repairing is out, but when you upgrade a weapon or armor it never degrades. So lets say at level one someone power levels smithing to 100, in theory they can have a pristine (forget the highest level) weapon and armor for the rest of the game.
