.wav file size limit?

I've been experimenting with the sound design aspects of the creation kit a lot lately, and for the most part, it’s really powerful. The auto lipsync file generation from .wavs is amazing, the mouth syncing looks better than a lot of full retail games out there. The rumble feature for sound effects is also really cool (Signals a controller to rumble, works perfectly with xbox 360 wired controllers on PC) and easy to use; sadly, most mod users wouldn’t be playing with a controller in the first place :(

Anyways, I’m trying to make some ambient background sound loops for different areas in my mod. I want these to be detailed (a lot like the ones seen in old Infinity Engine games) and help boost immersion. I’ve already finished a few, but I’ve run into a problem. When you use .wav files in the creation kit, it usually works fine; but I’ve found that there seems to be a size limit (or maybe a limit on the length of the track?) that causes the creation kit to crash. So far the biggest file I’ve gotten to play was around 16mb and 1 minute 43 seconds long. Anything over that and I get this error: http://www3.picturepush.com/photo/a/7903286/1024/Skyrim/CKError.jpg
Has anyone else run into this problem? And is there a way around it possibly? (Other than compressing my files down more than I’d like to :X).

Thankyou!

I think you can convert them to xwm files, I wrote a tutorial on doing so awhile back. http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1355852-tutorial-in-converting-from-to-the-xwm-files/page__p__20438211#entry20438211

I think it may be a time limit rather than a size limit. Has anyone else run into this?

Yeah that looks like a size or length limit. (Most likely size) You should be able to get around this by just toning down the quality of the audio. Skyrim has a standard level, and exceeding it is useless, as only like like 1% of people who play with incredible sound systems or headphones will notice at all, and only if they're listening to it. You can probably make it Mono track, since it's ambient, and perhaps lower the bitrate if it's super high quality?
