A way to fix the economy

Please understand this is just an idea, so no throwing tomatoes at me if you hate it.

One of the issues I have seen with ETS is the fact you get to a point in the game with so much coin but at a loss of what to do with it. I came up with an idea how to fix it-be a merchant. Yep, that is right.

How it would work is as follows.

Once you obtained enough gold, you can go see the Stewart about opening your own shop. You would have two options, buy your own store/tavern or buy a place that someone has already up and running that wants to sell (of course even if they do not want to sell, you can force them too).

If you choose to open up a new shop, you will have a choice on what you want your shop to sell. Once you obtained all the upgrades, you will then have a choice between which merchant you want to sell goods. You can even meet with them and talk to them prior.

After all that is completed, your merchant will inform you that you need goods to sell to people. So for example, you opened your own Alchemy shop. Head over to the Alchemy table and start making potions. Once you have completed making potions, give the potions to your merchant to sell.

(IF you choose not to do alchmey, you can do other things, hunt animals to sell meat and furs, make and sell jewelry, etc.

When your store has accumulated enough money, your shopkeeper will suggest opening another store in another town. In addition, as your store’s popularity grows, traveling merchants will come at random times and offer to sell your goods across the other Providences.

As with any store, problems do arise. (Quests)

Meeting the demand, your is selling fast and there is not enough to meet the demand. You need to create of items.

The Shady Dealer, (this will happen if you are or not in the Thieves Guild) comes into your store offering to sell uncommon goods (moon sugar, skooma, etc) and even buy stolen goods from people. You can either allow him to stay (give him his fee) or tell him to leave. (This person does work with the Thieves Guild so they will be getting a small cut of the profits).

Burglary, you come into your store and see it is a mess. The merchant tells you it was robbed last night by Bandits and they took most of the merchandise. From the merchant’s hiding place, they got a name of where they went, go get your stuff back!

Special order, a customer comes in with the need of an item(s) and is willing to pay good money for it. It could be a rare item in a dungeon or just 20 nirnroot. Filling the order will not only give you coin but the customer will spread the word on how good your store is.

Assassination (happens if you’re in the DB or not) Apparently someone out there does not like your merchant and decides to pay to get them taken care of. Either a random member kills your merchant or you get the assignment from the Night Mother. Once there gone, you can loot their corpse get your merchandise back and see the Stewart about getting a new merchant.

Revivals, another shop is trying to close your business down, stop them!

Perhaps..... Don't see how it's really that much different from just selling to a merchant.

Well it would be different because your not selling your goods to your merchant your given them (for free) to them to sell. This will open up new quests and allow you to do something with your money, You own the store, your the boss, random things and chaos can happen, just another way to enjoy the game.
