Wayshrines

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 8:14 am

hello, this is something i have been wondering for some time now. why are there no Way shines in skyrim? they were really useful in oblivion i mean the only shine ive found in the worldliness is to Talos. any ideas? fame and infamy made the game more interesting

Edit: forgot to have the main point way shrines had that was my fault

Skyims map layout is in a diffrent area all together..so I dont think it would have fit the game as much as it did in oblivion or they just forgot.

the map layout may be different but they still probably could have added it its a small addition the way shines weren't exactly in any pattern in oblivion as you recall

there's plenty of shrines around, even in the wild, where you receive the same blessing you receive in town shrines, dunno if it's what you mean, I'm not english.

Not only are the wayshrines missing, but the whole concept of fame and infamy is missing. There are few lasting consequences for evil deeds, and little reason to perform pentance by visiting the shrines. Any one can get healed at an altar, regardless of kharma. Frankly, I miss the entire concept of fame and infamy in Skyrim, including the blessings of pentance from visiting the shrines.

There are shrines in the wild, you just have to look for them.

There are shrines to every gods spread over the wilderness. Those for Talos are the most visible and numerous, but there are others. For example, there's a Shrine to Arkay in the mountain pass south of Alftand. There's a Mara or Dibella shrine near Dawnstar. There's another one due west of Whiteren, past the lonely hill in the middle of the plains.

When i picked up skyrim and started to play it I did not notice they were gone until I played a little of oblivion a month later. There not very important...the game is already very big, it did not need them in my opinion.

they were a big part of the game they reset your infamy if you went to all of them. if you didn't then you couldn't receive a boon from the gods in the temples

Well, I don't. My master thief went y doing all the thief's guild quests without EVER getting detected in anyway, not a single trace of it, and yet all guards started hating me for some reason.

Fame and infamy went out the window along with all the other rpg elements.

Exactly. Some of the shrines are still physically there. Their purpose is gone.
