Weakened Dremora Race Idea

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 2:42 am

Before you dismiss this with rants on how overpowered it is, note the "weakened" word I added before Dremora. What if you could play as a Dremora that has been weakened by an unknown magic, rendering them mortal and exposed to things mortals are exposed to, such as death and disease. What are your thoughts?

doubt it. bethesda has only made races that are common across the lands. dremora ,i feel, would feel out of place.

nope :/

I understand it may not fit in with any lore. What if it was just an extra race that was equally balanced with the other races?

It could work, but I can't see a Dremora doing the typical quest.

I don't see why people are being so negative to this. It is an okay idea, the problem is explaining the background of the race. I think that it would be cool (and more likely) if we could revisit some other fabled races such as the Dwarves or Snow Elves.

But, what if everyone knew that you were weakened to the point of mortality?

Bethesda can make it into lore! I can think of a story for a weakened Dremora.

Instead of being sent back to Oblivion, a group of Dremora were instead stripped of all their power, rendering them on par with mortals. Now mortal, these Dremora must cope with mortality, having to find and smith their own armor and weapons, and learn skills from scratch.

We've got 4 races of man, 4 races of mer, and 2 beast races. Let's add a beast race then, just to help even things out. Or, if you insist on Snow Elves or Dwemer, come up with a race of man to balance the two out.

I would like this to happen. But I just can't picture him/her running around doing a fetch quesst for people he/she probable thinks is beneath them. Also how would the NPCs in the game react to a Dremora running around? They would probably will try too kill it.

Could be fun but I think to fit lore, the next game would have to take place in and out of a realm of Oblivion to warrant having an entire dremora race.

How would the people of Tamriel react if there was a demon running around doing quests for them? That would be a fun sight to see.

The only thing I can think of is that a number of them some how escaped Oblivion and went to the non Oblivion realm. Which the coast would be they are like normal mortals. Also are there even female Dremora?

I can picture it. You're walking down a road then the game music switches over to the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK6TXMsvgQg Then you see a Dremora getting chased by a mob of the Vigilant of Stendarrs.

Indeed. They are "demons" from another plane of existance and are not liked by most people. The only people one could expect to interact with a dremora beyong fleeing or attacking are mages and daedric cultists. The former want to use you for their own needs completely uninterested in your wishes and the later worship the lords of the plains you come from. Dremora usually serve Mehrunes Dagon and he have next to no worshippers after the destruction of the Mytic Dawn after the Oblivion Crisis.

It simply doesn't fit the gameworld. If you are on PC I am sure there is a mod or two for it, but other than that I doubt it will, or should, be a playable race.
