Weapon Strenth Requirements

Post » Sat Mar 05, 2011 10:42 pm

I'm a bit confused as to how the strength requirements for certain weapons are. Specifically I want to be able to use the Mysterious Magnum, That Gun, and Lucky, without penalties. My Character has a strength of 5. In the official prima new vegas guide, the minimum requirements are given as a range, but on the Fallout Wiki site, they give a specific minimum number. Which one is correct?

Look in your pipboy. It will tell you what the STR req for a given weapon is.

Basically 8 STR covers all weapons except the Minigun, which is a 9.

The Requirements are on the far right of the charts.

It's a complete crock of Deatchlaw crap. I never should've wasted a perk on Weapons Handling, the wiki says you can aim stuff just fine as long as you're not epileptic or palsied.

Sure, you can Aim the thing, but can you hit what you are aiming at? What suffers is Accuracy when you do not met the Strength Requirement. However you can hold the weapon and even fire it. You just won't hit very much of what you point it at.

Aye, most notably with sniper rifles, you may as well throw it at them.

And that's why J.E. Sawyer invented Steady... Just get your guns up, it helped me. That and knowing how to lead a moving target helps.

alright then, so the penalty is to accuracy? As an aside, how many caps is the Strength enhancement and how much endurance must you have to sustain it?

again, that chart makes me even more confused, the strength values in that again are different than those in the gun's respective wiki pages. For example is the mysterious Magnum Strength requirement 4 or 6?

It's 6. But if you take the Weapon Handling perk then it is reduced to 4.
