This has been a part of Beth games since at least Oblivion. If you drop it or leave it, it stays there forever. Given that all that crap is in your save file, along with ash piles and dead bodies, I can't understand why they refuse to come up with a cleanup function/tool that you can opt to use. It would be such a huge help.

I don't think it has. I'm still finding random arrows stuck in the ground here and there as well as the occasional floating axe/sword/shield.

He meant when enemies drop their weapons. This actually gets clean-up back in Oblivion.. I'm surprise it isn't so in Skyrim.

I'd assumed he meant how when you run out of weapon plaques/racks in your house, you just end up leaving gear on the floor... on top of bookshelves... in the cooking pot... etc. It doesn't seem right hiding your most impressive stuff in a chest... why doesn't the housecarl tidy it away properly... can't he/she put up some wall-hooks, shelves or something?

I've noticed this too, though never really questioned it. I play out a scenario in my head that could explain their presence
