Weapons underpowered?

Post » Fri Oct 07, 2011 4:06 pm

Mainly im just referring to the automatic weapons, like the machine guns. I know you can buy different types of ammo, but I swear its still underpowered and the enemies weapons are overpowered. Of course the rocket launcher and double barrel shotgun are legit, no complaints there.

Im honestly assuming the reason behind it, is cause of coop. So everyone gets a pack of bullets on to an enemy.

Also, some of the mobs in the game are strong as hell.

I haven't noticed enemies weapons being overpowered, your character just isn't a bullet sponge like some of the enemies. In this particular game i actually prefer being able to pop more rounds into enemies with the automatic weapons, it's rewarding.

Some enemies (besides "boss fights") require different ammo types. If they're heavily armored change to the Feltrite AR ammo (if you have it) or other weapons. Its slightly strategic

I normally do all what your saying, I just think the weapons are a little underpowered imo. Its not that i dont enjoy pumping a clip into someone, I guess ive been playing to much BF3 to think so much bullets can go into someone w/o dying :P

one of my few complaints about this game and compared to a lot of the bs complaints i see i feel its reasonable..a head shot with a pistol should mean an instant kill..i shot one bandit in the head three times in a row before he went down..thats excessive..

ahh I figured it was just because i was playing it on the hardest difficulty that i had to unload so many bullets into enemies... ya... well it depends on the weapon... a good shot with a fatboy will take down most regular mutants/bandits.

On average an enemy will take two pistol headshots before going down. I don't see a problem with that. Do you have a problem with being able to regenerate health after being shot or being able to resuscitate yourself? That's not all that realistic either... How many times have you been shot just to fix it up with bandages? :P

Yes. Most definitely. I've never seen myself shooting so many AK-47 rounds into someone's chest, a shirtless enemy mind you, in my life. And I played FarCry 2.

No, but they are half crazed bandits living in a horrible Road Warriors world while you got to sit in a comfy pod for 106+ years! :sadvaultboy:

You'd have to take multiple headshots too if you were living in Mel Gibson's world. The first few just to believe your luck that someone is ACTUALLY trying to put you out of your misery, and the last one because you finally got your head in the way, right where you wanted it.

Sarcasm aside, haha, I've noticed that every time I hit a guy in the head and he doesn't die, he recoils like it grazed him, but when they do go down in one shot it looks like I'd expect. I can understand the complaints, because I was WTFing myself when I had to shoot a bandit in the brain about three times before it finally 'sank in' (horrible, I know...). But after that, I've been so busy aiming at the legs because they run around like crazy chickens, haha.

To me the assault rifle is the most underpowered weapon in the game.. sometimes it takes almost a whole clip to take down 1 mutant/bandit. The authority SMG is a TON better.

I always play games on easy because i'm a softee and like to have a false sense that i'm actually good at the game. Rage is no exception and even on easy i'm shooting people about 4 or 5 times before they go down, this is including head and chest shots, not just limbs. That's with handgun (settler is it called?) Rifle i'm not sure, never counted it shoots too fast, but i know it takes longer than a COD or BF type game. I don't dislike it though, it's like the other poster said, it adds to the sense of accomplishment. Close range with combat or DB shotgun only takes once though, if that :)
