Wedding attendees

Post » Thu Jan 31, 2013 10:16 pm

My character, who has completed the Thieves Guild questline, is 2/3rds through the DB, has finished the first 4 or 5 main quest line missions, and has finished a dozen or so other (non-miscellaneous) quests, married Muiri.

The attendees on my side were Lydia, Gerdur from Riverwood, and the Jarl of Riften. Muiri's attendee was Bothela.

I was surprised to see Lydia and especially Gerdur. I never use Lydia, and I've completed dozens of quests since I last spoke to Gerdur.

Does anyone know how wedding attendees are determined? If not, does anyone have any amusing wedding guest stories? I once had one of my characters marry Ysolda without having finished any quests other than the escape from Helgen. The only attendee at the wedding was Silda the Unseen (to whom I must have given a septim during a trip to Windhelm). I had forgotten that I had given Silda a septim, so I was surprised and amused to see that a homeless person from Windhelm went to the trouble of traveling to Riften just to watch some random strangers get married.

I don't know how it's determined, but it's the best thing about getting married... seeing who turns up to your wedding.

Mostly It's just Followers who come, So I have no clue why Gerdur is there, Unless you have a mod (If you are on PC) That makes her a follower.

I'm on PS3. Most of the time my guests have not been followers (e.g. Gerdur, Silda, Jarl of Riften).

I think so too. That and having a general store in your house.

I believe it's a completely random pick from among people who like your character. For me it was the Jarl of Morthal, some Imperial officer and some guy I don't even recall. None of my three housecarls appeared and none of the Companions (in spite of me being the Harbinger and marrying Farkas!).

I know you'll get one friend, one confidant and one ally, but how they are chosen seem rather random. The friend is the lowest rank IIRC, and is usually someone you've done a minor favor. Confiant is a little closer, someone you've done a major favor I guess, I'm not sure what the difference is. Ally is closest, usually a follower or a housecarl. (The next and final disposition step is lover, which obviously is your spouse.)

I finally got my Dunmer chick to make an honorable man of Marcurio the other day. She has had a rather complicated lovelife, including affairs with both Ulfric and Erandur. As I stepped into the temple, it occurred to me that one of them technically could be present. I turned the camera around, and well, guess who's sitting there in his monk robes? Yes, Erandur, the man who broke her heart a few months earlier had the nerve to show up.

Sometimes this games actually to create situations that can be very interesting if you RP. :P

(Her other guests were Vignar, now Jarl of Whiterun thanks to her, and Kharjo. Poor Marc had none.)

Funny thing, Erandur also showed up on my previous character's wedding, which also was sort of perfect since I had RP'd Erandur to be one of his best buddies. The other guests were Jarl Kraldr of Winterhold (he had sided with the Empire) and Revyn Sadri. He married Brelyna, and like Marcurio, no other NPC is set to have any relationship with her, so she had no guests.
