Weird bug or mouse issue?: Summoning Flame Atronach depletes

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 10:42 pm

Hi everyone,

The title says it all:

When I try to conjure a Flame Atronach, my magicka (being full) goes down to 1/2 and no Flame Atronach.

I don't have a mouse issue but it seems that in game, I have to either use the left or right mouse button ONLY to conjure properly!

I have the latest PC patch version btw.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Thank you,
stefnuts

A. We don't have any info on your Conjuration skill level,
B. We don't know what Conjuration perks you have.
C. We don't know the enchantments of your clothes/armor.
So we cannot comment on how much magicka the atronach takes.

But I think what you are really wanting to know is why didn't the thing conjure?
First, you aren't wearing any clothing (or armor) W/absorb magic, are you?
Secondly, getting the conjures to work properly is tricky. Some places you aim just don't work, I haven't figured out why. But if you keep trying, pointing at different spots, eventually it will work. I usually get it to work on the first or second time, but a few times it takes me 5 attempts. Yes, I am aware that can sink you in a fight. If you get any more info on this let me know.

There is some things to keep in mind when casting:
a. Range. This can be extended by perks. If the reticule (crosshairs) is orange when you begin to cast, it is too far of a target. Re-aim.
b. Pointing too close (to your feet) will fail too.
c. I have had more luck pointing at the ground than at walls/rock faces.
d. Clutter will reduce the likelyhood of the aim being successful. Aim at an (fairly) open area.
e. What appears to be about 10ft (3m) away seems to be the optimum most-reliable area of the ground to point at, before you take a range perk.
