Weird glitching in graphics

Post » Tue Jan 11, 2011 11:57 pm

Heya, so i don't really know how to explain this but i get these weird glitches all over my screen when i play the game. The graphics kinda "streches" out over the screen in thin lines. This usually happens after like 3-5 mins of gameplay and then just gets worse the longer i play. Eventually it crashes the game if i play for to long. I think it might have something to with my computer geting warm but i don't know. I don't have any problems with any of my other games. I'm playing on ultra high btw.
It's usually way worse than on this picture, but it's hard to get a screenshots because the whole glitching thing only last for a few seconds at time.

ATI radeon HD 4800
Inter core duo CPU E8400 3.00GHz
4gb
vista 32 bit

What do? Can't really enjoy the game to much because of this. Thanks for any help and support :)

I'll look at your link in a bit; meanwhile, what thermal readings are you getting? Those symptoms sound like an overheated video graphics device! I can't get any useful information from that image, sorry. As I said, though, what are your temperatures when these events are happening?

I don't have any programs to check the temprature, a friend of mine recommendet real temp so i guess i'll check it out later if i can figure it out, heh. But if heat is the problem, why does my pc have problems running this game when i can run games with way higher requierments just fine? bumps me out :/

I've had this before, with an older card. It's overclocked/overheated vidcard memory.

I had the same problem so I took my GPU out and clean all the dust off then used RIVA-Tuner to turn the fan speed to 100% and the game hasn't crashed since!

Okay guess i'll give it a go tomorrow then, thanks. And tips about what i should use to clean it though? Does normal paper tissue work? What should i be awere of when "lurking" around in there? Do i have to take the GPU out or can i just clean it while it's inside the cabinet? I've looked inside and done a little work inside computers like 3-4 times but that was years ago with a teacher making sure i did everything right and on really old school computers.

I've only been inside my computer once and i've had it like two years so i guess it's about time. But i'm kinda afraid i'll mess something up.
