Well about to wipe the DB out for the first time ever...

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 4:58 pm

Well technically not me(i could never do such a thing they are like family) but I now have my whole family hooked, my wife is making a character that is going to be a prodominataly good character and is banking on DLC like oblivions"knights of the nine". She wants to wipe out the DB tonight and already started the the quest by killing the old hag she considered that an act of kindness for those poor children. The thought that has been on my mind is when she goes into the santuary to kill everyone else how does she deal with Babette? Being a child you cant attack or kill her?

Babette will conveniently not be there

Yeah.

Like everyone else said, she is off doing what all twelve year old vampire girls to with their free time when you raid the sanctuary. BTW, tell your wife to watch out for Nazir... he's freaking lethal with is blade. I only destroyed the DB once, just to see how the quest line plays out, and it almost made me physically ill to do so. Ever since Morrowind, I have loved the Assassin's Guilds (loved being in the Morag Tong, and the interactions with the Dark Brotherhood). Every character I have ever made since the first time I found them, has been an assassin. Plus, everytime they are in a game, the armor that they give you is some of the best armor possible for the game! Even in Skyrim, the Ancient Shrouded Armor has better stats, and more useful effects, than most any other Light Armor the game has to offer you.

I love the Dark Brotherhood, and I wish your wife well on her endeavor, but I will never kill my Brothers or Sisters again!

Hail Sithis! All Hail the Dread Father!

I was thinking about taking them out but I can't do it either plus I  Shadowmere. I'm playing a new character and not even getting a horse until I have Shadowmere and not getting a house until I can afford the one in Solitude. Only the best for my Cyra Elven-Archer (she's a Bosmer).

The Dark Brotherhood just isn't the same since events headed south in Oblivion. I have no problem with wiping out these pretenders. :P One of my characters might get around to joining them, though.

I won't tell you the whole story, but safely know that you get to bring them back to the Old Ways...

After wading through enough stupidity.

I was glad to eliminate them. I was not glad that I could not do this with other Factions.

Well, I took them out twice so far LOL On my Imperial toons though, since they swore an oath to the Empire! My Nord is still the Listener though and I love Shadowmere (too bad you can't get him after wiping out the DB).

Oh and I do recommend the DB quest line, if you haven't done it yet. There were a few moments I went "WHAT do you want me to do?" LOL

That's the worst thing in it. First bethesda makes a child to be a vampire and then you can't even slaughter that beast. I hate the idea that a child is a vampire and I don't can't understand why a vampire is made to be an essential. I know she had a body of a child but shes a vampire after all and should be able to slay. Death for all the vampires!

Turned to werewolf to be able to kill her? That's odd - only character I has played as werewolf became about hundred times weaker in werewolf form than in his own.

How freaking stupid. Babette is not 12. She is hundreds of years old in a 12 year olds body. So just because she looks like a child she can't be killed?

Is this some kind of law or a Bethesda thing?

Its a video game thing and because its taboo. Some games have allowed the killing of children or have depicted a scene, and people in general don't take kindly to that sort of thing. While we can sit here and rationalize it, the majority of the population doesn't agree and it would be bad for business (in most cases) to have that much controversy over a beloved franchise. Maybe in the future when people don't see it as taboo it will be something they will let in, but this is the first time children have been part of these games and its best to take baby steps for now.

No kidding.

She may have been turned sometime way back in the 3rd Era, but she looks like a child. That's where people get the hang up.

And going off of this gentleman's post, every game in the past that has allowed child killing/sacrifice has either been quickly pulled from the shelves, or had its name blasted across the media so hard that the company that made it never fully recovered.

I agree that she is not a child, but since she looks like one, you will never be able to kill her. That's not just a Bethesda thing, that's something 99.9% of the Video Game Industry (indeed most industries, why do you think 90% of the time kids don't die in horror movies?) holds as a standard.

It would probably be best if you just got used to it. In no modern game are you going to be able to ice/grease/kill/maim/whack a child. It'll never happen.

One of the big reasons why Skyrim is not rated Mature or 18+ is because kids are invincible. Besides, Babette is a vampire and therefore technically immortal.

I would never be able to wipe out the entire Brotherhood, the characters appeal to much to me. I might be able to kill Cicero and Arnbjorn, but besides those two, I actually like all characters in there.

Indeed, I don't know what Bethesda was thinking giving her a child's model. They could have given her a custom face where she appears quite young but is in no way mistaken for a child.

She must be of some ancient vampire blood from somewhere other than Skyrim then. Most vamps I come across are wussies.

My first playthrough is usually a neutral good guy. Which means I try to do the right thing, but I don't go out of my way to look for heroism. It just so happens that I just killed off the DB. Not because it was a "good guy" thing to do or anything like that. I just don't like to be kidnapped in the middle of the night. I was even going to limit my revenge to the assassin who took me... who knew?

whats hilarious on the topic of cchildkilling in video games is that Fallout 2 for America (as of the last patch) does allow for childkilling, but it comes at the price of a title called Childkiller...and you get bounty hunters trying to kill you wherever you go.

IIRC Bioshock featured prominently the option to "kill" little girls
