Well, this is embarrassing...

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 2:58 pm

...I seem to have locked myself out of my house.
No, really - I just nipped out to join the rebellion and sack the city, and when I came back someone had locked the door and the keys are inside! Happens every day, right...?

Seriously, is there any way to get back into Breezehome? Am I being stupid or did Beth drop the ball here allowing players to remove keys from the inventory when they were going to be needed again?

why would you store your keys in the house in the first place? They weigh nothing...

If you joined the stormcloaks, you're not the thane anymore. There's a new Jarl and he probably took the house off you.

Not really, you just do a simple quest and get it back again.

Lol. I just did the same quest, but I had my key hanging on my trusty skull key-chain, and I walked right in after we sacked the city. Try loading a game from before the attack and grab your keys mate

This.
Go speak to the new Jarl and say you want a house, then get the key for free off of -----, since you already paid for it

Doesn't take away from the fact it's a consequence

Yes, it is.
But in the end, there is still no change. You were a driving force in a drastic political shift and all you have to do is ask for your house keys back.

wut?

Yeah I'm not saying its a major dramatic event or anything but simply agreeing its a consequence of your actions, something rarely seen in Skyrim.

True, I suppose from that perspective its a 100% improvement.

Which actually really worries me...

What the introduction of consequences scares you?
If you approve of your own actions there shouldn't be a need to fear consequences.

No, the fact that the house in Whitrun is probably the closest thing to an actual consequence in the game, is worrying.

In the same way opening the fridge to find there's only tobasco sauce left in it is worrying, for the simple fact that the fridge isn't empty, but you're not entirely sure you'd be more disappointed if it was...

And I was all ready to lose my house and contents forever!

I guess there's two lessons to be learned here: don't turn against the Jarl who made you Thane, and get a key-chain lol
(I take keys out of my inventory as I don't like the clutter - I prefer clutter in the house.)

If I can infiltrate any of the five holds castles, sneak in and out of jails at will and be close enough to a Sabre Cat / Bear / Troll to touch it without it noticing, I am pretty sure I know how to break back into the house I live in!!! :batman:

I don't understand the doors that "need a key".

I can fus roh dah people about a mile, I can decapitate people with a single blow.
I can sure as hell bust down a door. If not, maybe they should just make everything out of what ever those doors are made from.

So that's what happened to all the Adamantium after Daggerfall.

Ah right I get what you mean now. I'd love it though if all I had was tabasco sauce :P

Joining Storm cloaks should have nothing to do with it.
I got thane early on in Whiterun. Later joined the Storm and bombed the city, house remained my own.

Did you leave your keys inside the house though?
