Werewolves, what drives me nuts

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 11:46 am

I love Skyrim but I do have an issue with it. The werewolves. It is not the fact that there are werewolves, but how the player plays as them. When you become a werewolf, you are put in 3rd person view no matter what. I hate this because the werewolf form feels bulky and clumsy. Half of the time I am lucky if I can get my claws on someone. I miss the way it controlled in Morrowind's Bloodmoon expansion. In that game, I could play in 1st person, which gave me a great deal of control. I wish that they would do an update that would let me transform into my werewolf form and still be in 1st person. I would definitively use the form a heck of a lot more that way.

Yea I have to agree that the werewolves in skyrim are seriously boring and it pretty much annoying how you don't get turned into one like nearly every night,

They may have fixed werewolves to allow for 1st person in DG, but then again everything we have seen as far as Vamp Lord goes is forced 3rd person....

This.

Same with mounted combat, at least with archery, I wish that was 1st person.

Isn't there a technical reason why first person isn't allowed? Something to do with how the engine does transformations I think...

I agree, A first-person view for werewolves(and vampire lords for that matter) shouldn't be too hard to implement.

There's a reason for that, the werewolves of Skyrim(the companions blood anyway) are much more controlled.

I have to agree, forcing 3rd person can really ruin the immersion aspect for the player that generally plays in first person.

I don't think they have ever really thought out werewolves to be honest, just threw them in. Even in Morrowind: Bloodmoon there was no real advantage to choosing to play as a werewolf, in fact the loss of armour and weapon and magic etc. made it a great hindrance. I have always thought that the Werewolves needed a quest line that would culminate in the player gaining the ability to master their lycanthropy in conjunction with all (or at least most) of their other standard capabilities and options. I had a hint of some hope for that when it was announced that Skyrim had a Werewolf quest line and faction, but sadly it too is lacking in terms of developing lycanthropy to a truly useful ability.

Hope they add random werewolf encounters and werewolf lairs. Would be appropriate to add it in Dawnguard as extra content but I have not heard anything on it.

I would like to see some sort of quest for armor of some sort that a werewolf could use.

What werewolves really need is a massive health boost, or some type of defense that increases with player level.

Werewolves are powerful enough without a perk tree. I don't think they need anything more. Not that I wouldn't enjoy more werewolf content.

Have you played as a werewolf at high levels? They can get one shotted by a simple bandit. I guess that makes werewolves insanely powerful though.

Werewolves are terrible in this game. Only reason I keep the "curse" is for the free 100% disease resistance. Other than that I'm far more deadly in human form. Werewolf form feels like a handicap, not a boost.

I have never run into a werewolf in the wilderness, that would be cool. Honestly I wish Skyrim was a much scarier place at night were the chances of running into a werewolf or vampire was greatly increased.

Werewolf form is kinda useless tbh. I've never used it for my Redguard warrior even though I'm playing on Expert.
