Werewolves, why do wolves still attack you?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 2:35 am

This seems like something that is missing, if you're a werewolf a perk should be that wolves ignore ya, and perhaps you can even communicate with them. Ah to dream.

No, because you are neither wolf nor man. You are a monster, and wolves know this, and see you as an aggressive threat.

Traditionally in Werewolf lore, the animal you represent don't see ya as a threat.

Is this a bug, or something they half put in and didn't finish, as I've been werewolf form and wolves still attack me.

It must be a bug you're experiencing. Both wikias also state that normal wolves shouldn't attack you while you are in beast form.

Thanks for confirming this, but seems like not only one encountering this, it's on Xbox, perhaps the bug is exclusive to Xbox, but man was wondering how does this even make sense.

Nope, if it is a bug then it isn't xbox exclusive.. because i play skyrim on my xbox 360 only and whenever i transform into the beast form the wolfys are playing cute and don't attack me.

Wolves nor other werewolves don't attack me as well while I'm in beast mode.

Wolves never attack me while in beast-from only, but I think that they shouldn't attack me in my human form ether.
I'm ALWAYS a werewolf, not only when I'm transformed, and animals should feel that.

I agree. A werewolf is a werewolf even in human form.

Because Skyrim's version of the werewolf exists only as a concept.
In actuality it is an easily caged and tortured, non-threatening mass of fur.
But hey, the Inner Circle can become one! I guess that's supposed to make them cool.

Why would wolves not attack you when you're in human form? You probably don't have whatever pheremone glands the wolves use to identify you as friendly when in human form, only when you're transformed.

Because wolves hunt at night, you find them in the night. They can't see your unsettling wolfish grin, the fur coming out of your ears. You look like a proper human. You're not in Beast Form, so they're hostile.

Wolves discover the world with their nose first, in contrast to humans who mainly use their eyes. So they should be able to recognize you by smell, even if it's less pronounced than when you're in werewolf form.

Those glands are mainly placed at the same places on the skin, no matter what kind of mammal (e.g. under the arms). And yes, humans do excrete pheremones.

They should be able to smell you. Aela could smell all the werewolves in the fort and rule out that they weren't anyone she knew. She could detect them by the smell alone. Although maybe it's because they were in beast form.

In the Dark Brotherhood Abjorn or whatever his name is can detect you're a werewolf by the smell as well, and both of you are in human form.

I agree. It doesn't quite sit right with me that wolves will attack you, especially considering a Totem of Hircine allows you to summon wolf spirits. Vilkas or Farkas make comments about no longer being able to smell your heart beating after they're cured of lycanthropy, so clearly some abilities carry over in your human form and wolves should be able to tell the difference between you and normal people.

Hopefully if that Lycanthropy perk tree does get somehow implemented, you'll be able to get a perk that makes wolves neutral unless provoked as well as the enhanced night vision power that was cut from the game.
