Western Part of the map...

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 11:00 am

I'm quite... flustered by this. I used a console command to unlock all map markers just to see how densely populated with locations the wasteland is, and I found that there were no locations in the western part. I investigated, and it turns out that there is nothing there. Why give use that part of the map when it isn't even accessible? Very disappointing. Everything else in this game is awesome, but I am very disappointed by this. Hopefully a mod will be made...

I was looking at the western part earlier and i noticed it has mountains all across it... i was wondering if there was anyway over them but could not find a way.

I bet he's talking about the big area west of Goodsprings. I've been curious about that area aswell and it seems quite pointless to leave it empty and inaccessible

Yeah, the other side of the Colorado River is vacant, except for three spots, which are Mirelurk Sanctuary, the Fort, and some Deathclaw area whose name escapes me.

Edit: Oops, though you said east!

I think places have been "left" ready for future DLC packs?

I found a gate (near the start) that cant be opened, so a click unlock command and I find that it leads no where, the old invisible wall is looking at you, but im sure an expansion is just waiting to fit it there!

Remember the whining about Fallout 3 DLC being located "off-map"? This may be an Obsidian response to some of that.

I was also disappointed by this, I thought the map was already small enough. :/

I am referring to beyond the mountains, and through the gate on the Mojave Outpost. If this is for DLC, then I would be pretty pissed unless it was extremely cheap. I mean, it's a tease. They could have just made it a generic open desert area with respawning caravans, monsters, etc. Would be better than nothing. I hope a modder takes the initiative to add this area.

The map has to end somewhere. Even without the apocalypse there's nothing there now.

Of course it does, but they shouldn't have displayed it on the map as if it were explorable. If the map were cut off say, at Jacobstown, it would make sense. I mean, the game is extremely satisfying, but a good portion of the wasteland that I thought I would be able to explore is missing now.
