It's not a "claim". It's actually happening. Just because you managed to get a copy that works, doesn't mean everybody "claiming" it freezes is heresay. Good for you if yours works. I doubt players will "claim" it's freezing if it's not.

PS3 version is nigh unplayable for many. I'd consider it if I were you, but don't be disheartened if the game is broken for you. Who knows, you might get a good copy like sdboka and be able to come on this forum and say others are just claiming these problems exist.

my screen freezez about every ten minutes and lasts about two minuntes.. i still have faith however... waiting for the patch... you might just wait for the patches to come out to buy a new copy.

regardless of what others may say.. I can tell you that my copy of FONV was fine - I played for about the first 12 hours with no problems, a few minor stutters and that's about it...

Then after my save file grew to about 4000 kb it now crashes so much that it has become unplayable.. this is not a 'claim' it is true, sad to say... FO3 GOTY did the same thing
and I haven't played that one for months since I can't load my current save anymore without the game crashing my PS3...

You know what? Me too. I played for 16 hours straight my first night having it. Not one single problem. After some time, the game started freaking out on me. I'm not ruining my console for this game. Think gamesas has dropped the ball again.

yep, know what you mean... I think it is a fundamental game engine flaw, that is why it was never fixed in FO3, because well, they can't fix it now since it has already been released... It would require a complete overhaul of the game engine...

what they should have done was pay attention to forums like this one and realize that it was time to competely overhaul this game engine so it doesn't have these kinds of problems...

but that would be expensive so it was never done... and guess who pays the price...?

it's really sad too cuz this could have been the best game ever imho.. I think that is why there are so many people complaining on this forum, we love the game so darn much and want to play it, but we can't because of the crashes....

nuff sed -

sorry to have used the word "claim" it's not what i meant. Although yeah with this many complaining about different types of bugs and glitches the game is not what we should be getting in the first place. It's like a game in beta-testing mode wherein the beta-testers are the target audience. Which is not good. Also, I've played Elder Scrolls IV and I've also noticed that when my save file reached somewhere around 4000kb things started to become laggy and glitchy. probably becuase of the amount that the PS3 is trying to load. I dont know how to reduce the size of the savefile either. os I just stopped playing the game. My save file hasnt reached 4000kb yet. Ill let you know. For those who were curious about outside the game causes, I play with this setup

120gb PS3 Slim
R3 FO:NV
PSN offline
(background download active, currently downloading Fist of the North Star)
All auto-saves turned off
Also whenever I start the game I go outside and let the game load the desert for about 10-15sec or so just so I'm sure it has rendered everything. Then that's the first and last time I do that during the course of my game. Also, after hearing and memorizing all of the songs in the radio, I just turned it off. waste of memory imho.
Oh, and I dont load the game frequently. I just take note of my choices on my notepad so that on my next playthrough I get to do the other path.

lol... I am doing all the same as you have stated above... exactly as you have listed... what I'm talking about is when the save file gets to about 4000 kb you will start having constant crashes unless you leave and enter new areas very very slowly..
If you run around quickly doing things; leaving and entering areas, battles, talking to NPCs without stopping and waiting until the HDD light stops flashing.. the game is going to crash for sure... watch it and you'll see what I mean...

It is clear that some people are having issues with this game whatever platform they are playing on.I think i will hold off buying the ps3 version and just wait for a patch for my pc version.I mean why would i want to give the developers another lot of money for a potentially dud game. This is so disappointing as i love fallout and the actual game onf new vegas seems sound it is just a shame the execution was poor and the relase premature.thanks for the input people

no problem... and hey I don't like being the bearer of bad news, I have no desire to give people the impression that they shouldn't get the game, I love this game...

The first 12 hours of my playing experience with this game is one of the best I remember from any game, but if you can't get to the end because of the constant crashing problem...
well that just ruins it for me... why would anyone want to play a game half way through and then be unable to finish it???

I have seen this freezing problem on the PS3 with Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. I also see a lot of jumpiness in the graphics. Fallout games are the only titles that have presented this issue for me so far.

I solved the freeze issue but turning off the radio on the pip-boy 3000 when I am running across the map in Fallout 3 and it seems to work the same way in New Vegas.

I have checked what settings I could but I have found no other way to work around this issue.

I see in this thread about the file size has also been mentioned. I am hoping that will not be my next issue.
