What are you looking at? im not afraid of you... You should,

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 12:22 pm

i feel like this should be pointed out. Some of the children in skyrim behave like your regular mtv tweeter nowadays unbeaten kid. This attitude is really far off pre-medieval attitude toward children. One youngling speaking like that to an elder would get insta-slapped around or worse. And a girl doing that? ha ha what a joke. Feel free to post your thoughts on the matter and if they should have added a non lethal mechanism to discipline impertinent npc (and raise rep or something by doing so) like slapping them around or getting a broom to beat them up into god-fearing elder-respecting decency.

I don't care if they aren't going to be 100% accurate with medieval kids, but the ones in Skyrim make it so you need to use every ounce of fiber in your being to resist "Un-essentializing" them and sending them to sovngarde.

Tamriel isn't earth. 4E isn't pre- medieval times.

Because even the Dovahkiin is incapable of getting his wife pregnant (or being pregnant herself),
I assume that only the very very strongest can reproduce themselves.

And of course the immortality of the children is a sign that they are the sons/daughters of the aedra and the deadric princes.
So don't mess with them.

Yeah, I was just festering over this the other day. It is like they just intentially wanted to put in something to annoy players, which is an odd decision considering people were already complaining about the already annoying repitition of general dialogue. It like adding insult to injury. I hadn't thought of unessentializing yet, so I will definitely do that with my evil characters.

The girl in Whiterun makes me wince everytime I go to there, which is a lot since the game is practically based there....

Heh, I always took it to be a sly comment on the fact taht they're not allowed to show kids being killed. So naturally, the kids are cocky as.

The kids were given really nasty language as a joke, you wouldn't have made this thread if you understood that.

Either way, stop trying to make the series/lore to being comparable to Earth in anyway, otherwise the developers might think making a mystical world is pointless if people don't recognise it.

In any pre-industrial society kids worked and they worked young and they worked darned hard. Those Skyrim kids would not be out running the streets all day - if they were rich kids they would be being educated etc and if they were poor they would be helping with whatever jobs their parents had - farming, chopping wood, sweeping etc. They would be too tired to be mouthy.

My own Great Grandfather was working as a railway clerk at the age of 13 and that was only just over 100 years ago.

No need to go that far back in time at all. I started working at age 13 myself. I was working two jobs, part-time, by the time I was age 14.

i'd like a hyperlink to a Bethesda official stating that my friend, your word for it means less than an arrow to the knee. And anyway, in any kind of society where life is fragile and death is everpresent, the young try and get on their elders good side, because there is no child service to come and empower a little [censored] to treat stronger members of their society like dirt.

Lol are you guys really getting so worked up about this?
Not too much, but its there, some of us where brought up to be decent to strangers and elders and you cant help to react to such things

Same here - I mean he was out of school and working full time at 13.

What made it worse was that kid in Solitude in a shop saying " I bet my papa could beat you up"... This child doesn't have a father anymore.

Gotta admit I hate just about every last one of them. A couple kids are tolerable but wow... When they have attitude they have it in spades. To the point that it really does seem like a crappy attempt at giving them personalities.

Am I the only one who likes Braith and her...

"Boys, girls, dogs, elders. There's nobody I won't fight!"

... line ?

It's messed up yet so adorably bratty, I can just imagine the kind of person she'd grow into. Perhaps I have a biased view though as the current character I'm playing would probably respond "Hah! that's the spirit!" if she could. On a dangerous assassin I can definitely see having immortal NPC's running their mouths at me as being a problem.

They are annoying though I couldnt bring myself to kill children, even digibrats, but the mod that removed NPC greetings shut them the heck up for good, so I am at peace.

It kind of bugs me that there's no way to stop them from reporting crimes. Not saying you should be able to kill them, but threatening them into not telling anybody should be an option, even if it is a rather dark one.
