what am i doing wrong (markath thane) : V

i have done all the quests that i should do, but i can not buy a house

So i tried a consol comand "setstage favopr250 20" that should do you to thane but it will not help....... what am i doing wrong, im lvl22. i was reading that you need to be lvl 20 and have done certen quests somewhere else and that is completed.

Please help i want the house in markath

did you do civil war? i think that's a requirement.

did you get the jarl's shield? once you hit 20? does the quest log show that as complete? if so, go talk to the jarl's steward (forget the name) and make sure to scroll down through all of his conversation topics.

No its not neccessary to start or finish the civil war

thought i hade done that one on this char, but when i asked here I didnt hade the option to do it. I made a bounty hunt outside markath and when i got back i hade the option to do shield quest and now i have bought the house

you only have to do two missions to get the house..you don't have to do a lot of missions to get it and you don't have to do the civil war quests, you only have to do 2 quests to get it but if you don't do the two right quests you're gonna have to do everything to make sure and still might miss it.. this is how you do it...DON'T just start doing quests in markarth thinking you'll get the house if you just "do enough" thats not how it works, go STRAIGHT to the jarl and talk to him before you do anything else, and he will send you on a mission, don't get sidetracked, do that mission only then you will go back to him to get the reward for the mission, then he will send you on another mission to go get a shield...go do that mission and when you get back he will offer for you to buy the house...the reason people get messed up is its easy to lose track on the missions on the menu so people start doing everything thinking thats how you get the house...to become thane you need to do a few more missions, but just for the house you just do those two missions he sends you on, and after you bring him the shield you get to buy the house.
