What engine should I get?

Ok me and my friend are going to attempt and restore a Suzuki Samurai to working condition. It's not going to be fully restored, just enough to where it runs. It's going to be made into a sort of farm buggy thing to get around on a 600 acre farm. The old engine burned along with anything under the hood so it's nothing but scrap metal, as far as I could tell the frame and everything else was ok. My question is, since the Samurai's engine bay is so small, what engine should I buy as a replacement? If you could link me to some that are pretty cheap, only willing to spend a few hundred at most, that would be great.

You should try to ask on a car forum. I doubt that you'll get the answers you are looking for on a gaming forum. ;)

Hey you never know, this place is like a bottomless pit of knowledge :P

I'm currently researching it, just thought that I might be able to cut some time off the build if someone on here already knew what would fit.

That's true... it's almost scary how much the forumers here know about things

Exactly which model are we talking about? There's 359cc, 539cc, 800cc, 797cc, 539cc, 547cc, 657cc, 658cc, 970cc, 1,298cc, 1,324cc, 1905cc (probably not this one, if you reckon its small :P), and more. Even a year would narrow things down a lot :).

My mechanical knowledge is limited, but you may find a motorcycle engine and a big hammer is your best option.

EDIT: Plus there's both two and four stroke models.

I guess I should of reworded it. I know it's possible, but it doesn't seem practical without some heavy modifications, none of which he can probably do. Of course, I could be wrong.

Engines are expensive, even little four bangers cost 12,000+. My suggestion is to go to a scrap yard and try to work out a deal

Still, $12,000 for an engine, I'd be on Craigslist.

Maybe some high performance engines, but nothing for his farm buggy/future muddin machine.

Weren't the Samurai's famous for easily flipping over?
