What good is the investor perk?

According to elderscrolls.wiki.com, the investor perk allows you to "invest" 500 gold coins in certain shops, which means you'll have 500 more gold to barter with. Am I missing something? How is this better than just carrying the 500 gold with you? If one invested 500 gold and got a return, say 10%, that would be an advantage. And while we're on the subject this is a pet peeve I had with OB and now Skyrim, that the game doesn't take into account other people doing business with merchants, so their tills and inventory would vary. Once a merchant is out of money you can never sell anymore items at that shop, unless you buy something.

Buy investing in the shop, every time the store refreshes he'll have an extra 500 gold to use to buy your items. Just makes offloading things, especially the expensive items merchants can't usually afford, quicker and easier. After all, the hardest part of making money in Skyrim isn't acquiring goods, but selling them.

You can invest in a special merchant, and he will have 10.000 gold.
