When Skyrims 92 spells get anywhere close to Oblivions 2314 I may pick it up again :P (yes I'm still sour about that)

I asked my mom what she thinks, and she also said she just thinks I'm growing up.

But what about you guys? Aren't you "grown up" and still gamers?

perhaps you are becoming saturated with what is today's standard for "popular games"

try a change of pace, ask around for advice and find a game that might not be newest or best rated one, but it might suit you

alternative is fresh air and other activities

I don't think whether or not you enjoy games has anything to do with maturity.

So, should I make an effort to get back into gaming, or just let it be?

Whether you enjoy the games' content does, though. I know I appreciate different things now than I did when I was 12. And let's face it: video games are mostly aimed at 12-year-olds. (No offence to any 12-year-olds, of course.)

Well, probably not the context your mother had in mind, as you growing up (as in growing older), your hobbies change. We aren't static people, and things will naturally fall in and out of favor with ourselves  Growing up (as in maturing) has nothing to do with it and very few hobbies are hobbies you can be "too mature" for.

I'm thinking, go with your own flow. Don't forsake gaming and don't force it upon yourself, either. Take five, do something else that you enjoy with someone you enjoy doing it, but also ask your friends around about games you might enjoy.

I don't think it's so much "growing up" as it is having other factors play into it.

You lose a lot of time and gain a lot of responsibilities as you get older. Naturally that cuts into gaming time, and sometimes when it comes to using the last two hours of the day to play a game or surf the internet you end up chosing one over the other again. I know I use games to waste time as often as I use them to entertain, so when there's less excess time that needs to be burned off there's less video games.

Doesn't mean I like them any less, and it's certainly not because I've "grown out" of them. 's just a time management thing.

Let it be. Games are supposed to be fun, if your force yourself to play. It isnt fun.

Also if your mother is anything like mine, she dosent understand gaming at all. She told me before "still buying games at 18, I hoped you would have grown out of that". I then told her about how games arent jsut for kids and the average age of people playing games is 33. "I hope you dont turn out like that".

I didnt facepalm then, but dear god how can she not see its no damn different to her watching the [censored] on tv, atlest games require some thought.

What is a grown up---a miserable little pile of secrets...honestly though if you can't take time out from "grown up" things and enjoy a little fantasy every now and then, you'll run yourself ragged and probably have a shorter lifespan.

There's nothing wrong with putting the controller down for awhile. Hell, after the release of Fallout 3, I played it to DEATH. Then I just didn't play anything at all until New Vegas.

I personally would reccomend GOG.com. Planetscape torment, baldurs gate, these old RPGs really got me back into gaming, as that "90s" formula for creating videogames really just stood out. Get into another hobby, focus on other things.

Gaming will be right here waiting for you when you get back!

Also this. NEVER stop playing for some arbitrary self imposed rule to "grow up." Live your life, and enjoy yourself.

If you WANT to hold on to gaming, don't just buy a game because it's popular, you might not like it. If a game looks interesting, do some research on it's gameplay, general plot, and go buy it. You can't really force it on yourself, it, like most other hobbies, is an acquired taste.

I haven't been gaming much for years. The reason, however, is obvious. There are no games worth playing. I haven't looked forward to a game since Oblivion came out...So I just replay old favorites ad infinitum...so I gradually have slowed down almost to a stop.

But yea, if you take college seriously too, you won't have time to game.
