In November I created a Nord warrior who only uses shouts to be the Dovakhiin. I ended up putting 120 something hours or so into that character, I felt a little burned out and I knew there would be more to come for this game, so I stopped playing before I got too burned out to wait. I assumed Steam would save my saves to the cloud, and ended up reformatting and losing all my precious hours of gaming.
I've finally been inspired to start again, with Dawnguard's announcement.
So I started my Nord over again, going for the Dovakhiin storyline, using a shield and one hander this time as opposed to my original 2 handed Nord, and I am sticking with wearing clothing and armor specifically that I like and feel make sense in the world. So at the moment I am a light armor tank, which feels weird.
This is Norfrost Altermein:

But I also created someone to be a vampire lord. The Imperial, Diego Ortega (not roman sounding, but whatever) Here he is eating some bread and looking sinister.

I had yet to play a thief like character or archer, so I opted for an Imperial who is a morally grey sort of guy, willing to do whatever it takes for his own welfare, who will eventually become a vampire.
But I soon got this sense that I was following in the footsteps literally of my Nord Dovakhiin.
Upon finding the first 3 sign stones, using Dovakhiin Relax mod, my assassin pulled out an old book and was researching the stones. As I watched him, I was inspired to connect these two characters.
Somehow, my assassin is stalking and out to kill my Nord character. He hates the Dragonborn, and I'm not sure why yet. But I am considering creating a full campaign for a mod that has you literally going through the main quest in parallel as if you are hunting the dragonborn and trying to stop them. An ambitious concept, but something I just feel really creatively inspired to do.
Eventually he will be a vampire lord.
But just pretending that we are in the same world has inspired me to play this game for hours on end, where as I was pretty burned out.
From leaving Helgen, I took Diego to Riften, which took me about 6 hours of adventure, I played nonstop. Probably the finest gaming experience I've had since November. Now I am flirting with the Thieve's Guild, and ultimately I feel the Dark Brotherhood will be incorporate into his path.
