What makes Fallout different from all other games

In the Fallout world you really have to ask yourself, morally, do I kill this person or do I not?

While exploring the Mojave there are countless characters you run across and you may want to blow their head off in cold blood but you really have to ask yourself, will this person be important to me in the later game?

The only person I hadn't had this thought about was raggedy old No-bark Noonan when I framed him for Boone's wife's kidnapping.

How about you?

The idea that you don't kill them because they may be important [to the player] later in the game is... very disturbing.

To me, Fallout was different because it was a fantasy RPG without elves; and because the principle characters would size you up, and react emotionally. Choices in Fallout were commitments (this included developmental choices like perks).

Fallout 3, is not like Fallout. Perks are like free candy, APs are basically meaningless, and the game plays like a shooter when not in conversation; aside from special attention to an open world ~well... Fallout 3's open world is the only thing that differentiates it from most other games ~but not from TES.

Fallout stands out from my collection of games as the BEST one there is, above CoD and Halo, simply because I can act like me, I dont need to follow a determined code of conduct, I can create alliances with people and things, there is more selectivity in weapons/armour, the new healing system is a good challenge, hardcoe mode makes it more interesting.

I could go on as to why its different and I like it :tops:

The amount of freezes. Second to none in that respect.

It's rich lore and unique design in both world, history, gameplay and RPG mechanics.

I like that what you do reflects on what happens (killing, pissing off factions,ETC.)
I like the open world where basically the whole thing is open from the start and you are not confined
Weapon choice
Story
and many others
