i love how the caves, forts, ruins, etc... all are pretty unique and feel different than each other to a degree and usually have their own stories, and that in almost all of them you don't have to backtrack to get out

"Independence"!

unlike most of the RPGs, you are on your own in the whole world... no pushes, no limits, no obligations... you are free to do whatever you wish whenever suits you best...

This.
Yeah Skyrim is my first TES game, but I just loved it so much. You can do anything everything anytime anywhere without limits. (of course there are limits)
but I loved it, really.

I just decided to actually do the main quest, and apart from a couple of weeks on New Vegas Ultimate, that's six months of my precious limited gaming time filled with doing all the little things. I have done the Bards, the College of Winterhold, and made a throwaway character to do the Companions, but have yet to do the Thieves', Brotherhood, most of the main quest or start the civil war. Haven't been bored yet.
And while it may not be tightly scripted, you are free to do pretty much anything your own way. So, first time going up to High Hrothgar, for this character answering the call, I decided not to kill anything unless necessary, wore a black hooded robe of restoration and a pair of plain boots, and got up with one word of Kyne's Peace and dual cast Calm. So different from going up in troll killing mode. So that's what I love, the ability to do all these things, however you want.

Pretty much this. I can do what I want, when I want.

I love how Bethesda crammed all this content into one game, at the same time making it look 100% natural and well-spaced out. I'm well into my 4th playthrough and I'm still discovering caves and bandit camps that I've never visited before. You could literally spend all your time playing Skyrim just exploring and still get out hundreds of hours of gameplay.

As someone who plays ~ 3-4 hours a day, this is extremely true. It would probably take until the next TES game for me to find everything on one account.

The way I can explore the world without once ever touching a questline after leaving Helgen. Or Run every questline with one character ( I haven't but I know ppl have)

The little things that make the world seem more real. Sunsets and Aroura's.... lordy.... I've got alot of pics of them!

Well, I started to answer with various things and then realized a lot of them would also apply to Fallout3, which I've just never been able to enjoy at all. So thinking about how TES titles differ from that, I think it is the quasi-historical setting, the unspoilt countryside, and the magic. And I'm not sure that the countryside isn't the most important thing.

I love how 30% of the NPCs are indestructible so I can go on countless killing sprees across Skyrim whilst still having innumerable fetch quests I can do.

I play it 6-8 hours per day since released date, and created about ten different characters, but always seems to found many new things.
Yes, indeed this is great game. All you need is enjoyed it, and you won't even talks about their bad side.

I just love the atmosphere of the world. Some of the views you'll see whilst travelling around Skyrim are incredible, no other game (in my opinion) has touched on the design aspect of the world of Skyrim. I've played about 140 hours on one character and am only Level 50, with a lot of other skills to get up, and still MANY miscellaneous quests to do, and probably a lot of other quests in towns which I haven't really spoken to many people in.

The DLC will also be fantastic!

All the micro details Bethesda puts in it (plot; secrets; easter eggs; characters; the whole Skyrim) :)
