What makes you mad about the game play.

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 10:44 pm

Okay this is about the stupid things the makes you mad about the game play. Now this is not about the glitches. This is about the things that happen in a game while playing it that is just stupid and ridiculous.

My gripe is, I have a horse, I am told it is a "hearty" horse and healthy. It survives a brief encounter with a dragon which I kill.. I get to a camp that has a bridge that goes over the road. There are bolders on the road, dumped there by the previous bandits of the camp, however, some of them because they are not being rendered are invisiible, my horse DIES!!! after just touching/ skinning its knees a few times on those invisiible bolders. Now that is ridiculous and stupid. So much for a hearty horse, now it is a dead horse. :swear:

How many of you have lost a horse or follower or something because of something stupid and ridiculous?

Yeah, the boulder thing has killed one of my horses and poor Lydia just can't seem to get by them without a struggle.

My pet peeve is not being able to knife a slaughter fish under water.

Gotta agree about the underwater combat also.

the shout is another annoyance for me too. I thought if I raised my Magicka that would help but I haven't noticed a change, so it probalby doesn't help.

The pathing through the world svcks, it's too easy to get stuck on any terrain changes, even ones that are only a 1" difference in height. Even the tiniest of ground angle/plane changes seem to cause this problem. While annoying for the player, you can usually jump over it and keep going, or wiggle around from side to side and jump a few times until you get clear of the tiny obstruction. Followers, on the other hand, are screwed. They aren't smart enough to jump, and if they can 'go around', it's usually some awful path choice that takes them through 3 bears, 15 bandits, and a slaughterfish. Any time you jump to clear something, or to hop off a some ledge or bluff, followers should be smart enough to jump too. They very seldom are. Pathing AI and how it deals with (non)obstructions is absolutely braindead. Worst example for me- climbing the stairs to the bedroom level in Breezehome- my char gets stuck on that last top step, every time, and I have to dike around just to get past it. Grrr....

Another issue I've discovered that affects your followers adversely, is that the Mark of Death shout permanently screws up their armor so that if you accidentally hit them with it while they're helping you fight a dragon or boss or whatever, you've just wiped out most or all of their damage resistance, permanently. The only way to fix it is with some esoteric and hard to find console commands, and only on PC.

NPC's that ask you to follow them somewhere, say about how important it is to get there and how much of a rush they are in, and then... Oh, you don't mind if I stop, turn around and stare at you for a while, do you? And I WILL be doing that ALL the way to where we are going. Then they complain that you're not keeping up! Infuriates me, lol.

Terrible writing, forgettable, dull NPCs, boring quests, and recycled dungeons with no purpose.

Dragons circling above me and I can't do anything to get them to land so I can fight them with a melee character(It is also very difficult for me to hit them with a bow..), but maybe I just svck.

No, as mentioned in another active thread here this morning, sometimes the dragons just fly around for a while, and don't attack you. It happens occasionally, it's normal, it's not a bug, and it's not you :-)

Were these dragons the invincible, backwards flying variety?

Negative. And even the ones who will spit fire at me, it seems they wont land until I do a considerable amount of damage to them via bow, which is difficult.

Pelouze, we get it... you don't like the game. Trashing it is getting old. The backwards dragon bug was fixed within weeks of it's introduction. My personal peeve is actually the UI. It's tweeked for console use, but doesn't that the options or complexity that a PC user expects. Nothing wrong with developing a console friendly UI, but a PC UI would be greatly apreciated. SkyUI does a pretty good job with what it can do, but the over all feel of the game is lessened by the clunky UI. In particular how some menus stop time, while others don't. You can get locked into a conversation during combat, or have two conversations going at once.

Dragons really irritate me.

Instead of thinking "[censored], my character is going to die if I don't run and hide" at low levels, and "i'm in for a real challenge now" at high levels... I just think "meh" after the first one. They're tedious to kill, but not in a challenging way. And they show up too often.

I play on PS3. The interface is 20x worse on a console. We have NO hotkeys and are forced to navigate the poorly thought out user interface with no modifications. And since the game is so f*ing buggy anyway you can't even mention UI improvements because there are still so many perfomance issues (FPS, crashing, freezing, infinite loading screens).

The #1 annoying thing for me is that lots of input events are just plain missed on PS3.

Sometimes you pull R2 to shout and it does nothing, or R1 with a bow is missed completely - as in your character just stands there. Then you get pwned by some hostile and have to reload an hour old save (since its not safe to play with autosaves on PS3).

But Gstaff et al won't even comment on this problem, it has been mentioned by tons of ps3 users.

Just googled what that is and wow that will help me so much lol. I have only done some of the MQ (I do have about 75 hours logged though, just taking it slow :P), so I havent gotten that shout yet.

Correct. So after 4 months PS3 version is not fixed. That's why it's frustrating to PS3 owners, we paid for a game that is very unstable at best.
And maybe backwards dragons have been fixed for PC, but I assure they are still rampant on PS3, even after 1.4

I guess I just have different expectations from the game. I can't think of anything that really peeves me about it. Maybe the repetitive dialogue, or maybe the courier that always comes up to me when I'm fighting a dragon. The random lock-ups were a little irritating, but not really a big deal in the grand scope. And that seems to be fixed as of v1.4. This is my first TES game, so maybe that's why my expectations are different from a lot of people on here. I played Fallout 3 for months and had a great time with it. I've been having a fantastic time with Skyrim since it came out. And I play on a PS3.

It was an interesting choice Bethedda made giving most NPC's with the ability to shout the disarm shout. It's not a fun aspect of combat, and I've actually lost some weapons before due to this shout.

my pet peeve? hmm, Not having well written quests. Most of them are just pointless radiant fetch quests that have no meaning. I think the only quest that i was impressed with was Forsworn Conspiracy.

I'll also mention the horses. Every time I dismount to attack some bandits in the distance, the horse charges in. Horse = Leroy Jenkins.

My expensive horse vs ancient dragon.

as mentioned above, leroy jenkins in horse form.

I have a tons of peeves. I'm making a whole thread tommorrow about it. I've got 2 pages of handwritten problems, not glitches, to type. Including my DLC wants.
