What Next?!

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 7:54 am

So.... I've got a level 40 khajit theif/archer, with all the high skills you would expect from that class, and i find myself a little bit bored in the game, I have probably played for 60+ hours and have finished the theives guild, dark brotherhood, civil war questlines, and have done the deadric quests that interest me, i havnt finished the main quest so that is next, but im not quite sure what to do after that, any ideas??

Thanks :)

Are you playing on the PC? If so: why don't you try some mods?

Also: if you are bored, maybe it is time to play some other game and return to Skyrim when it catches your interest again.

Have you already tried a different type of character? Like a mage for example. You could try the College of Winterhold, if you haven't already (I didn't saw it in your list of completed things)

Or try something crazy :P maybe that is fun. Like: kill everyone with your current character.

^This. Exactly.

From the sounds of it OP, you are playing hot and heavy through the quests that interest you. There is a lot in this game to do that has nothing to do with quests. So, if you enjoy playing Skyrim and are bored with the quests then I would suggest doing things that are not quest related. I have been playing my first character for well over 150 hours and I haven't even been to all the major towns yet. Actually, even though I role play as a master blacksmith yesterday was the first time that I had ever even seen the forge in Windhelm. But, that's just part of how I play. I don't go into every cave as I find it, and I don't explore every city right away. I leave things to be done at a later time and it has really paid off for me.

OP, have you explored the whole map? Have you found all the treasure (talking about the treasure that has treasure maps)? Have you spent any time swimming? Have you ever considered hunting animals with your bare hands? Have you started any serious collections of odd or interesting items?

Im not rushing at all, i spent hours yesterday clearing 3 iron mines, transmuting all to gold, making jewelry, enchanting then traveling to all the npcs in the land willing to buy.... took me absolutly ages :)

I try doing those things, walking everywhere, entering dungeons as i find them, but find myself getting bored and heading back to riften/dawnstar to do jobs for the guilds, i was mainly asking if there was any quest strands i hadnt seen/heard about that were worth doing, but ill research the treasure maps, they sound interesting

For me, it's the beginning that is most fun. I just made an assassin character, but the very instant I got the dark brotherhood armor.. I got bored and restarted. That's why I play Dead-Is-Dead. Keeps things interesting :)

DLC isn't going to solve the issue, because those probably wont last long.
The Bards College is good for a stealthy character.
Don't do everything with your current character.
I semi-retire my characters around level 30 anyway.
Try a pure mage, no armor or weapons (except conjured weapons). Do the Winterhold College and a few Daedric quests.
How about an Orc Berserker? There are some Orc strongholds about, even with at least one quest that I know of.

Most importantly, role play the character type and take it slow. Try not to fast travel.
