This past Spring I saw a magnificent marketing machine pumping on all cylinders promoting Brink and Rage. I do not recall anything near this for the last Fallout (New Vegas) release. And there is nearly no buzz generated for the DLC's except amongst the fans. To me this is not only poor marketing, but chronic negelct of one of the Pillar franchises for Beth. When you look across the landscape there are really not that many unshakable bankable pillar game franchises. Halo, COD, Battlefield, Bioshock, Oblivion and yes Fallout is among them.
So I don't understand the almost lethargic approach to Fallout content. Patches coming months after the problems are first reported. Lack of sizzle with respect to add on content. No build up to relase dates because as we have seen they just sort of release unannounced when ever they feel like it (What?)
When any of the other big frabchises release new content it is an event with mostly much pomp and circumstance. With Fallout a whimper in the middle of the night.
I know Brink has it's great fans but it has been a critical flop and I really hope Rage is good because it looks quite Fallout-ish. Fallout is Buonafied not a maybe
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate what they have done in terms of all the enjoyment I have gotten from their franchise. Yet it seems obvious to me that Fallout is their Red Headed stepchild. The red headed stepchild that pays their bills but the redheaded stepchild none the less.
