What other armors triggers guards' reaction?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 6:08 am

So I was hopping on about with my newly acquired Thieves Guild Armor and one of the guards I passed by mentioned something like "Try to hide it all you want, me and the other guards knows you're in the Thieves Guild". The same can be said on my other character who donned Dragonscale Armor.

With utmost curiousity, may I ask what other armors triggers their reactions, and what exactly do they point out?

When I downgraded my armour from Daedric to Iron, the guards started commenting on how I wear Iron armour well, and it being simple but solid, or something along those lines.

I believe they comment on all types of armor randomly, you won't get responses on guild quests based on armor however. Those are random as well.

From memory:

Banded Iron - "You wear the armor of a mercanary... That's the life, eh?"
Scaled - "Scaled Armor.. Shiny!" (honestly I heard something along these lines haha)
Dragonscale - "Is you armor... made from dragons?"
Leather - something

They comment on all sorts of stuff you equip, armor as well.

But a comment related to a guild is usually not necessarily triggered by wearing an armor type afaik. It's more often related to your progressing through the ranks of that guild. I've had many comments about being part of the dark brotherhood and the thieves guild without ever wearing the associated armors. Same as I've heard comments on me being from the mages guild or the companions.

Some guard in Whiterun now started saying something like: "Hey, psst, I know you. Hail Sithis!!" or something similar. I just fail to remember what I have done and it feels awkward each time as it catches me mostly by surprise.

I wore a mix of hide, fur and leather and they told me "you wear the armor of a brigand, we aren't going to have any trouble are we?"

Most likely tied to the Dark Brotherhood, but who knows. I sure dont.

I remember a guard in Whiterun commending me on my Steel Plate armor once, and my Ebony Armor.

Frankly speaking though, I don't remember any of them saying anything when I'm in my Elven/Dwarven/Orcish armor.

Or maybe I'm just out of luck.

That happens when you join the dark brotherhood, not because you're wearing their armour. I get that being said to me by guards and I'm wearing the Thieves Guild Master's armour 24/7.

I got for Orcish. "Orcish armor strong and ugly , just like thepeople who made it. and "I had a set of Orcish srmor once. It was strong but uncomfortable and ugly. I also got a comment on Dwaven but it eludes me. They give yoy ahard time for Elven armor/weapons.

Yup. Guild related remarks are usually just related to your exploits in those guilds. Not really by whether you wear a related armor or not.

I've heard them comment on Dwarven, Orcish, Ebony and Dragonscale. They also comment on daedric artifacts.

I heard this just the other day, after getting my Mehrune's Razor:

*whistles* "who'd you have to kill to get THAT fancy blade?"

For Plate Steel they say something like "Plate Steel, now that's a solid choice!"

For Ebony they same something like "Ebony! Now that's some fine armor!"

For light armor they say something like "Light armor means light on your feet". I think that's more related to skill level than what your wearing because I think my character was wearing mostly heavy at the time.

But recently I loaded a mod that reduces comments, so I haven't heard much else.

They also comment on certain weapons, I think.

It seems when I walk around with my 2H sword, I get comments (in Whiterun) like, "You were born with 2 hands, use them to hold your sword," or something like it - can't remember the exact words.

And, also on light armor. It goes something like, "Ah, wearing light armor, that way you can move around easily." Again, wording maybe slightly different.

They will comment on specific pieces like Spellbreaker, too. One I liked was for my ebony sword, a guard says "now that's a beautiful sword, like a slice of midnight."
