What to do if playing as an assasin in certain situations?

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 7:04 am

Hi all,

I made my Stealth/Assasin, he will mainly sneak, but he won't be so evil, only an assassin, not a bandit or a pure thief. He'll use bow, sword or dagger, maybe desctruction and illusion, light armor.
Thinking as an assassin. i am going to sneak and kill without being noticed, but this when i play alone. If i want/must to play with a companion what i have to do? Or..
When i get in a place where there's someone to help, while i was playing as warrior, i used to help him fighting with him.. if want to play as a stealth assasin, what i can do in this situation?... I can't sneak so i will must fight as a proud warrior.. but i am an assassin

i hope you understand what i mean.. sorry for bad english..

Thanks!

You can always have the companion wait somewhere out of the way when you need to be sneaky, or use a companion that is good at sneaking, like Jenassa.

To help out use the bow. I do this all the time. Just make sure you don't hit who you are trying to help.

I'm playing as a rogue/thief right now. It's best if you go it alone as followers will blow your cover. I'm level 46 atm and my skills are:

Sneak 100
Alchemy 100
Archery 95
Illusion 87
Speech 83
Pickpocket 70
Alteration 58

I don't use any destruction, melee, or conjuration in attacking enemies and I've put nothing into armours. The aim is to not be seen and not take any hits. My usual line of attack is to cast fury spells on groups of enemies until only one or two remain. then move in silently to plant poisons in their pockets until their health is low enough for a 15x damage attack.

I haven't done any smithing or enchanting and all my bows and daggers have been bought - apart from the Daedric dagger which I got in a quest.

It's a fun way to play, but there is a lot of running away involved.

Alteration has spells that increase your armor rating, and spells that allow you to see people through walls, good for knowing where your enemies are.
I think he means running away while your frenzy spells do there job, sneak in cast frenzy on an enemy get out while your enemies attack each other.

In general, go alone. However, if you want a meat shield, bring a follower. They'll generally draw fire first. Let them engage while you skulk in the shadows. Use your bow, if your follower ever gets out of the way, lol. Bear in mind, however, their level. Some are powerfully weak, getting knocked down in one blow. Alternatively, using frenzy, or a frenzy potion (if you have the perk to place poisons on NPCs) can be immensely useful. Although stealth and silence are the mark of a true assassin, don't avoid generating mayhem when it suits you.

With that build you can't really go toe-to-toe with even the weakest bandits - especially early in the game when most enemies are too powerful for illusion spells. I am also playing on master, so when I get caught sneaking the best defence is to escape and get some distance between myself and the enemy.

I get some magic resistance and a mage armour bonus when I'm not wearing the armours you get completing the TG questline and I also use the detect life spell a lot.

I should also add that I'm roleplaying an Argonian non-dragonborn character so there's no shouts, which makes a big difference, but they have a great health regenerating racial power.

You can stay in sneak while your companion engages the enemy and pick em off with your bow while your companion does all the heavy work, but I tend to travel alone as an assassin it just makes it easier to get the drop on my target without a companion giving away my/our position. I also really like the bow, I never really get that close to an enemy unless I have no choice(like being indoors), I try my best to keep a good distance between me and my target(s) and will snipe everything that moves, if your good enough at sneak and archery you really have no worry of anything other then a dragon getting to close to you.

Go alone.

If you do take a follower I would advise someone ranged, leave them behind in a good chokepoint area so if you need to run they can cover you.
