What playstyle for light armour?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 11:22 pm

Well, im just starting a light armoured nord, but i cant think of any light armoured playstyles that aren't thief or assassin, so i was wondering, what others does it work well with?

Gladiator style, sword and shield. An imperial would probably be a better match RP wise.

I use light armor with dual swords or sword and shield. Kind of a Conan the Barbarian thing.

Spellsword. Lots of conjuration, including bound weapons.

Anyone that doesn't want to run around in a giant tin can.

My newest light armor character: 2 handed, Archery, Light Armor, Block, Smithing, [Minor Skills with minimal to zero perks] Sneak, Alteration, Restoration

scale armor, bows, sword/shield for close combat. Work on your sneak too.

I play a Nord Warrior in Light Armour. Sword an Shield. Works just fine.

I also play a Hunter/Archer Wood Elf character in light armour. Easier to quickly run about to new positions to fire at the enemy.

Light Armour for a Mage could also work if your enchanting was good.

I'm using light armor and dual wielding maces. I do not block at all. Actually I'm surprised at how well it's going and haven't had any trouble in melee. The nice part is the perk that increases dual wield weapon speed also increases the dual wield power attack speed. I use blacksmithing but go up the heavy side for weapons and improve found light armor with arcane smith perk. Will wear unique light armor or dragonscale/plate after awhile. I guess being an orc and using berserk helps with this.

That's what I'm doing right now minus bound weapons.

Light armor seems quite common in Skyrim, much like it was in the viking society inspiring the Nords. Metal armor has always been expensive, and most Vikings and Anglo-Saxons went into battle wearing just a helmet, leather armor and a wood & leather shield for protection.

Gladiators also aren't a good example on how to survive in a real fight. They had weird(on purpose) equipment and weird restrictions on their tactics for the time. Roman gladiators, that is. The ones in Cyrodiil seem to just bash eachother on the head and see who falls first... :dead:

Gameplay-wise, light armor isn't any worse than heavy armor. You can hit the armor cap with both of them, and light armor weighs less without perks, leaving you inventory space for loot when you're starting out etc.

plus, light armor in skyrim (pre-elven) just seems to have that more adventurer feel than the heavy armors do.

My new characther is light armor dual wielding and it's been going great so far. I did this quest where you can get scimitars and I'm using those for now. Dual wielding scimitars is great! I'm still wearing leather armour too, expert level.

Sounds a lot like my Khajiit right now. She focuses on dual swords, but she uses archery and illusion magic some as well.

I'm trying to play an archer/conjurer, but the only spells I find useful is the "Summon X" to create a distraction. How do you use conjuration efficiently?

Armor class does not matter at all in Skyrim. You can pick Light or Heavy armor and fulfill all roles equally. It has no bearing on your game play. If you are ranged, you do not even need armor since if you get hit - you messed up.
