What I sent to Behtesda and Obsidian

I don't know if you are actually going to read this but I wanted to let you know that what I have played of NV is great so far except all of the glitches/freezes, which should have ALL been worked out before you went and messed up my favorite game series.
I think it's bull [censored] that you are using your CUSTOMERS as your beta testers!!! Where is our compensation for the time we spent helping you de-bug the game we PAID to PLAY, NOT TEST.
I don't think that I will be buying another one of either of the companies titles as you seem to always put out a faulty product!!(and then expect your, again CUSTOMERS to beta test it for you and then never give us any info on what is going on) I know that this is a huge game and there are many things that can get missed but I have played plenty of other games that have matched or surpassed it's size that from out of the box worked just fine.
Shame on the both of you!!! You should have NEVER released this game the way it is!!!
Not to mention that I am hearing that DLC will only be for the p.o.s. 360 and not for the PS3!!! Why the hell would you be so willing to slap us in the face after buying your game?
So...it's been fun, but don't be thinking that the gamers of the world will keep giving you our hard earned money when you just keep bending us over, and with no lube either :( ouch...

i have to totally agree with you on this one. it seems that the PS3 users are getting hit with the majority of bugs and quest ruining glitches. it is total [censored]. this is nothing more than a lazy man's version of F3, that was over-hyped and was released WAY TOO SOON, and it has become clear to me that Bethesda and Obsidian, do not give a flying [censored] about ANY of its customers, but ESPECIALLY it's PS3 users. it is a TOTAL [censored] DISGRACE, and as you have said, they should be absolutely [censored] ashamed of themselves for ruining the follow-up to such an epic game as F3. [censored] YOU Obsidian. :swear:

I will. :fallout: *imaging a smiley hugging a TES banner here*

I've been playing on this engine since Morrowind. (Though it was called NetImmersion then not Gamebryo.) I'm used to the bugs/glitches. Their games are so good in my view I'm fine as far as dealing with (or fixing) them. Thankfully I manage to have pretty good success with the games compared to most. (I've fixed, or bypassed all my issues so far.) I lost a couple hours between the save corruption bug and a scripting glitch. My game freezes at times but if left alone it comes back and I play on.

Would I prefer there were no bugs? Sure, but it's just not realistic with this engine and a game of this size. (As proven with time.)

Just my 2 cents seeing you felt the need to speak for gamers.

No it is realistic to think that a game of this size can come out glitch/bug FREE, though maybe not on this engine. As many other games that I have played that equal or surpass the size of this one have been so...hope you enjoy continuing to bend over for Bethesda and Obsidian.

Oh I will. (Though I always demand the use of a condem!) /facetiousness

I get a lot of content for my $50 and a little effort. Well worth it!

I understand if it's not for some, but I have no problems fixing/tweaking things myself. (Or using fixes/tweaks others are kind enough to share.)

I still want them to ditch this engine and try something new/better though. I'd also like a more issue free experience, but again, I've been lucky and have always been able to play my games with a little effort on my part.

I am very much looking forward to Elder Scrools 5!!!!

BUT!!!!

ELDER SCROLLS 5!!!!! HMMM if its on PS3 which i doubt it will be I MAY look into that...and I will look into the Fallout online game since it's by Interplay and another company, not Bethesda or Obsidian, but this gaming experience has soured the taste in my mouth as I said earlier.

I think that it is way past time to be done with this POS engine that has caused nothing but grief to its users...but keep the Fallout games coming, GLITCH/BUG FREE TO ITS BUYERS LEAVE THAT TO ITS BETA TESTERS PLEASE

You seem to misunderstand the situation Wolf,

Would i have liked to beta test this game?
Your darn right i would, hell i may have even done it for free just for the experience to beta test a fall out game.

To release a game to the public with obviously 0 hours of beta testing and claiming it as a finished product is unconscionable and very unprofessional.
Along with, when Bugs reports come flooding in from your customers instead of an apology you simple reply "yea, we know"

To expect your customers to spend what is suppose to our free time, our time to relax, our time to indulge in the world that they have created, to get lost in the story.
But instead they want us to bug test?!
They want us to do there jobs for them?!
This type of irresponsible management of your company will lead to its downfall, NEVER have i heard of a released game needing a patch to fix over 200 bugs(most of which have not solve the majority of play stopping bugs) with still hundreds possibly over a thousand bugs remaining in the game.
i have never traded in a game in my life, with over five thousand games in my collection. your game may be the first that is not worth keeping

P.S. i have canceled my BRINK reservation thanks to the antics of your company with this game. With the new S.M.A.R.T. system and the cross over from online multi and single player, and the lack of credibility that your company has displayed, I cannot trust that you will not attempt to use me as a BETA Tester again without my approval.

Shame on you

Testify, my good man!

200 bug fixes a week after release? That only confirms that they knew of their broken game as it was hitting the market as they were trying to minimize the issues before the [censored] hit the fan. Unfortunately, this patch didn't even scratch the surface of the glitches this game has. On top of that, I have yet to see a real list of what these 200 "fixes" were. Where is the communication? I wouldn't be so angry if there was some official statement. A semi-apology. Something. All I can find online is PR statements still hyping the game. Are they honestly expecting me to continue to support this terrible business model? This company is acting as though we owe it to THEM. Devs, don't forget, without our money YOU FAIL.

It's a monstrosity of disappointment. I haven't felt this scammed since Superman64. Where is your Public Relations department in all of this? Are they reading these posts? I sincerely hope they know how much they have alienated and disenfranchised their fanbase by simply remaining silent throughout this entire fiasco. Pitiful.

As I've said in past posts (and goes without saying) I will not support this company again. Do not purchase DLCs and let your friends know the shabby treatment we, the consumers, are receiving.

Don't forget to email the company as they attempt to put their head in the sand during this whole thing: http://www.gamesas.com/eng/contact_email.php

I understand. Maybe if I was having more issues I'd be angry right along with you but once again, like with Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and now Fallout NV I've always been able to play pretty bug free after some minor performance tweaking when others are reporting major issues. I see nothing new in the "help" sections I haven't seen with all 4 games mentioned over the years. (Mostly due to the aged Gambryo engine.) I've had 1 quest glitch out due to a wonky script. I simply loaded an earlier save and carried on. I had 6 saves get corrupted after leaving Vault 22. I was there twice with only the first time being effected. (The saves are on a failing HDD. May be the HDD at fault for all I know.) but because this is nothing new with the engine, I had accounted for possible issues. (Was about 20 minutes of game time lost as I learned long ago to save often!) So I was not angry.

Ok, 0? I don't agree. This is a huge world, with a lot of scripts/stuff going on. I can easily believe 300 testers, with free will to do as they please in this world may not find every bug. If I were a beta tester, I'd be apt to say my version is pretty solid. While another may be more apt to say it's the "buggiest game ever". I managed to bypass the "Come fly with me" game save corruption. I've been in and out of Vault 3 with no more save corruptions. Just the 6 within Vault 22. The aforementioned quest issue was I fast traveled into a fight situation, and Veronica became aggro, always walking with fists out. That made all the BoS guys draw weapons, but not fire on me. I couldn't turn in my quests because they can not be talked to when aggro. Once again, loaded an earlier save and carried on, I lost about 15 minutes that time.

Ok, I'll give you that as I agree a little more communication from time to time may have curtailed a lot of the anger many feel right now. This has never been Bethesda's strong suite though. They stay quiet, work on patches, then say something when they have something to say. I can understand both sides. Bethesda doesn't want to lock themselves into anything so it's safer to stay quiet. (Say we are fixing "this" when "this" can't be fixed in the end do to some limitation.) Unfortunately it leads to people thinking they are just off on vacation/ignoring the situation or something.

I don't think they want (or did) either personally.

So to sum up my thoughts. Does the game have bugs? Yup. Have I been affected by said bugs? Yes. Does it make me angry? Nope. Are we beta testers? Nope. I've seen all this before and I always manage to get a playable, and frankly a damn good game in the end. I'm happy to deal with annoyances from time to time for many, many hours of fun. It helps I always seem to avoid the major bugs (In all 4 games.) many others get. (Not sure why, but I'm not complaining.)

I assure you, there is a great game under them there bugs!

ok, im gonna address there in order that you wrote them.

1.im glad you got a mostly working copy but for the majority of sales they did not. and they have a right to be furious. a simple apology would have made things go much smoother once they realized the sheer volume of bug reports they were getting

2. 0 ok thats probably wrong i'll give you that, but for most of the people who own this game and are experiencing brick wall glitches/bugs/crashes a mere 2-10 hours into the game, it becomes very obvious that very little bug testing was performed.

3. yes you would, but lets look at this logically lets say they really had 300 beta testers. yourself and 15 other people have very little problems or non at all during your testing process
while the rest of the 284 bug testers are reporting volume after volume of corruptions crashes bugs and other game ending conditions. you would still release this game?

4.being able to bypass a corruption and ensuring that the corruption isnt there is the first place is hardly the same thing

5.finally we agree on something i understand they cant annouce which bugs they are currently working on one its bad to annouce that you released a game that may be completely unplayable depending on your own personal luck, but they cant honestly expect to pull the wool over peoples eyes a simple annoucement to the fans of an expected patch release date would be nice they can aim high with the time stamp also
"we are sorry for the inconvenience, the small patch we released should fix the playability issues for some of our clients, for the rest we are still working on it you can expect to see the new patch xx/xx/xxxx"
its not very hard to have good PR

6.personally? welcome to the world of advlts wolf you are directly responsible for the people you employ, if your employees do something or allow something to happen that discredits your company it reflects you personally. personal responsibility is what good consumer relations is all about

7. you should play the lotto with that luck of yours, we are all happy for you that you got to enjoy your game. while the rest of us are stuck until they address at the very minimum just the major issues
such as: using a vendor and your game crashes, looking at Gomorrah and your game crashes, not being able to enter the strip without your game crashing, etc, etc.

we are reasonable people not looking to crucify them but would like to remind them that there companies name has been tarnished greatly and we will not be subjected to being viewed as dollar signs, and in the future you can expect initial sale of beth and obs products to be much lower than predicted. most including myself will be waiting a minimum of 2 months after game release and doing research on the credibility of future titles before even considering going and buying it

8.its true underneath all of these problems there is a great game, i was able to see a large portion of my game before i encountered major issues
but the fact remains unless these problems are addressed in a prompt fashion or the customers are at least given an occasional update more than "yea we know, we gave you a patch another will come later"

a large portion of the games purchased will be returned to the game stores we bought them from.
and not only will the customers be uneasy about purchasing future beth and obs product corporations like gamestop will be hesitant to stock their shelves with those products. unsure if anyone is going to buy from this company

I agree with some of what you say and disagree with other stuff. (I just don't have the patience to deal with each point at the moment. My apologies.)

I don't deny those suffering issues their grievances, I'm just trying to put a bit of yin in this yang oriented post. (OP's use of "gamers" as a whole was what got my attention. "Don't speak for this gamer".... was my issue basically.)

P.S.

I do want to address this:

personally? welcome to the world of advlts wolf

I think FNV is a great game that was sent out to gamers broken. So instead of full price for a broken game, they should've only charged half price till they release it fixed. I feel bad for everyone who doesn't have internet access to patch up the crashes in the Strip. Most other places in the wasteland, the game runs well enough with few crashes.

Lucky 38 area: Crash prone- 100%
I enter through the NCR tram, then look down when entering Lucky 38 gate. if I look up, it crashes. I get up the steps to Lucky 38 and make it inside, but can't exit without a guaranteed crash, black screen which freezes the game forcing a reboot. Very disappointing. And Westside is unplayable due to 1fps instead of 30fps outdoors with some hiccups.

All other areas: Crash prone- 10% Indoors. Outdoors 5% or less prone to crashes. Crashes usually always happen when entering/exiting indoor areas.

PS3. If this was my game and I had a deadline, I'd plead with Bethesda to delay the game if I knew about all the crashes, which they might have done, but the decision makers at Bethesda might have thought, "If it's really bad, we can just rely on patch updates. It's the new standard to fix broken games after release..."
