Just wondering what has made you stop and feel that dreary emotion that is sadness when exploring the world of Skyrim? I just had one of those moments when I came across Lund's Hut not far from Rorikstead, obviously while not quest related it was set up by Bethesda to tug at your heart-strings; apon arriving to this hut I ran into pesky Skeevers! After disposing of them with fire, I noticed there was a stone memorial set up complete with a candle, a silver ring, and a blue mountain flower... obviously someones loved one had died and been buried here! Then I entered the hut, 2 more pesky skeevers awaited then I looked around to see the hut in a dishoveled state, empty wine bottles littered the floor and tables, then I spotted poor Lund dead on his straw bed! It's pretty obvious that Poor Lund had died of a broken heart since his wife had passed away and drunk himself to death, then the Skeevers had moved in! I felt so sorry for him that I took his belongings and put them on the Shrine located outside that he obviously made for his dearly departed wife!
I just love the random non-story driven touches like this Bethesda have put into Skyrim, this is what creates atmosphere, so to those who say Skyrim is lacking heart, I think they need to take their time more and just do more exploring, because places like this arn't related to any quest where they can fast-travel to!
Kudo's to the Bethesda for these nice little touches
