What's the best weaponarmoritem you can get at level 1?

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 12:13 am

One of the things I loved about Morrowind was the static loot. I remember getting Goldbrand at a terribly low level (2? 3?) and stumbling on rare Deadric throwing darts before hitting the double digits. It was the sort of thing that made exploring really rewarding. Oblivion's scaled levling did away with finding great loot, and Skyrim seems to have some of the same problems, albeit not quite as extreme. So I'm just curious, what are the best items you can get at a low levels? Is there a way to get Deadric or Ebony stuff at level 1? I've heard that the higher in elevation you go, the harder the dungeons get, and that some of them are scaled from 40-50. Does this apply just to the enemies or does it extend to the loot as well?

Just wanted to edit in the fact that I'm at level 51 after 115 hours of play, and I've gotten every achievement, so I know the game pretty well. I'm not asking for how to find or craft weapons, but rather I'm looking for specific, static items that I can get at a really low level. A specific explanation of how the leveling works would also be apprciated, as I'm still a little confused on the details as to how they've implemented it. Also, if this is in the wrong forum, I apologize. Mods, feel free to move it where ever it's most appropriate.

The better items generally appear at higher levels, though if you craft your equipment, you can wear it as soon as you can make it.

I can't remember anything specific, though I have found some interesting items from loot. Usually, I end up disenchanting them.

Best weapon/armor/item you can get at level 1? Probably the Imperial Officer Gear during the quest 'Unbound.'

There are a few items placed around the map that are the same no matter what level you are. So, if you located them and didn't level during the process, orc/glass level gear.

Right out of Helgen. With the Smithing steel perk, you can keep that gear well into the twenties.

EDIt : BTW OP, you should ask a moderator to move this thread to the other forum.

This is the sort of thing I'm looking for. And I believe I found that particular little place, which was cool.

Technically, since you don't need to level up, I'm pretty sure you can craft yourself the best version of whatever armor and weapons you'd like. You can also do any non-level restrictive quests (I know some daedric require certain levels to become active... unless I'm crazy).

Sure, vendors probably won't sell the ingots you need, but you'd just have to look up where mines of what you're looking for are, or vein deposits. There's definitely all the heavy armors, I don't know about the light ones though. I also don't know if daedric hearts are randomly in alchemist shops, or appear after a certain level.

You need perks to craft best versions of armor, and you need to level up to place those perks. :/

You could potentially try to abuse certain things like fortify restoration or craft loops of some sort to create amazing armor/weapons regardless I suppose, but that's not quite the answer the OP is looking for I expect.

theres a Elven War axe in the housecarl of the Jarl Of Riften's Room. And the glass sword in some dwemer ruin but thats a quest item

can also jump into the orcish strong hold of Largubur ( don't think thats the real name, thats all i can remember off the top of my head ) and there's full orcish armor on a grave, but you have to steal it.

I have seen a Daedric heart in Orgnar's inventory in the Sleeping Giant at early levels a couple of times. Didnt have the cash or the need of it...but it was there.

Bolars Oathblade or Blades Sword
I was going to say the same. Bolars Oathblade is an awesome katana sword and very easy to get. By easy I mean, no need to start quest or something. It is not that easy for lvl 1 player (there are mobs to fight), but it is doable.

Funny that, you need to be level 14 to start the quest.

To the op, a skyforge steel sword can be stolen from certain companions, also an elven bow in Aela's room. Also as soon as you leave helgen, follow the path until you reach a sign, then turn left and up a hill to a talos shrine, you will find a thalmor with a random enchanted item and thalmor robes.

Yeah, I know. I only found out that there was a minimum lvl a few days ago and was quite confused. On my first playthrough, I never met the fellow who initiates the quest. On my second, immediately after Hircine's quest, I headed to Winterhold (walking/fighting the whole way so I picked up a few levels) and that's where the quest started.

Must have glitched somehow. I couldn't believe that I got something so unbalanced (heck, even after 14 it's still pretty wicked).
This same character caught rockjoint as a werewolf- also impossible- so she must have a charmed life.

the bow is good for a really long time actually.... it's amazing. FREE DAEDRIC ARROWS... nuff said :P

My Arcane Archer ?????'s her bound bow

OT: I stole an Elven Sword from a display case in Dragonsreach w/ my Assassin... came in handy for a while, and available right away too!

Problem is with (some) quest loot is that (supposedly? someone correct me if i'm misinformed) it scales to you when you get it... and STAYS that way. So if you rush out and grab some of the best items, you'll actually screw yourself. That's what someone told me anyways... which they said they found someone discovered and posted about here.
