What is the deal with beards not connecting to faces?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 2:51 pm

Any beard (full beard not the ones painted on) I choose ends up being partially suspended from the face below the bottom lip, and top lip.

You can actually see the beard suspended off the face in mid air.

Top lip just below the nose, and under the bottom lip.

The hair doesn't even grow out of the skin. It just floats.

This is not a glitch at all. Every human character is affected by it. It is incredibly annoying. I tried adjusting the sliders (mouth forward, chin forward) and nothing fixes it.

If your character has a beard (again an actual beard, and not one of the goatee beards or painted on beards), look at your character from the side, close up.

Some actual hair is like this too. In Oblivion if you position your camera right there is a gap between everyones head and their hair...

I have major OCD, but this is something annoying to even "normal" people, I would assume.

The reason why this gets on my nerves so much, is because the thing that makes TES the most enjoyable for me (or any RPG) is the realism.

If my character doesn't look as realistic as possible, then I have to start over.

I really wish that I could somehow accept flaws and unrealistic aspects in my character's creation, but if I know that I can recreate the character to look just slightly more realistic, then I start over.

I am really bummed out about the beards. I really wanted a bearded Nord.

There is a lot of variety in OCD and there are some really stupid things I obess about. Many things that a normal person wouldn't even notice or think is wrong...It's really annoying sometimes not feeling like I have any self control...

Topic: I have also restarted characters before on appearance alone. I would restart and play the exact same character class/build but it would feel different to me somehow just because my characters appearance was different.

On appearance there are things that annoy me with some apparal. The bugged shrouded mask on males, the Dragonscale helmet on Khajiits/Argonians, and some other helmets on my Khajiit. Like the back of the glass helmet looks like its missing...

I have restarted due to appearance being unsatisfactory so many times, it is innumerable.

I restarted at least 4 times because I kept choosing hairstyles which clipped through helmets and hoods.

Several times due to my complexion/skin tone/eye tint not looking right.

Now this beard issue.

I would have expected allot more from Bethesda after so much time between the last TES installment.

My main support for my case, is the fact that in fallout 3, this beard issue does NOT exist.

Any beard you choose, regardless of the shape of your characters face, is perfectly flush mounted to the skin. No gaps.

I am very disappointed over this.

I really wish that there was some way for me to just accept it, but I can't. I keep restarting and obsessing over it to the point to where I can't even make it beyond Riverwood.

I have been playing the game since launch, and have not been able to settle on a single character.

I am on 360, too so I cannot edit my character any time.

make your character have a shaved head and shaven face? Then you can see hair floating above their scalp or lips.

Can or can't?
