So, what the heck is Lucasarts working on?

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 4:09 am

As the title says.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-06-02-lucasarts-promises-to-make-better-games

In here they acknowledge the rather poor reception from The Force Unleashed, and say they're going to make better Star Wars games. Lucasarts is also working on an http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/08/23/lucasarts-working-on-an-open-world-rpg.aspx.

Could this be KotOR 3? Probably not, but here's to hoping. The Old Republic is set hundreds of years after the KotOR games, and so it leaves room for a sequel. Although at this point it could really be anything. Maybe it's even a new franchise.

Put these two together, and you get an interesting picture.

Bioware is working on The Old Republic, and another studio on Star Wars Kinect, but the internal development team hasn't announced anything as of yet.

Thoughts?

Edit: I are awesome at Grammar

My thoughts? Stop making Star Wars games and go back to making original titles like in the 80's/90's.

The worst part is that I would buy that with joy.

Also, I wouldn't mind seeing Battlefront 3 or a new Jedi Knight game either.

I hope they made Battlefront 3!

I also hope that if they're going to make it lackluster, that they should just leave the Battlefront series alone.

Open World Monkey Island with RPG combat! Look for objects all around the world and use them at exactly the right nonsensical moment and place to advance the story! The main quest will take you 200 hours to complete!

Episode I Racer was actually pretty fun IMO. Super Bombad Racing was the terrible one.

I want a new Jedi Knight game. Jedi Knight 2: Outcast was awesome. I played that game over and over and over.

Played? I still play it. It's probably one of the best Star Wars games I've played, lightsaber combat was, and still is, the best I've seen.

What I wouldn't give for another Jedi Knight

They're probably making a Super Ultra Deluxe Special Edtition Star Wars Saga DVD box set which includes Han and Greedo shooting at the same time, Jar Jar is now in Episodes 4 and 5. In a New Hope Jar Jar is at Mos Eisly and in Empie Strikes Back he's talking to Darth Vader about the old times, the prequeals at now in 2080P and is now in full computer graphics even the actors, at the end of Return of the Jedi they replace Sir Alec Guinness's Obi-Won's ghost with Ewan McGregor and in Episode III there's now even more couch setting in fact the entire movie has been redone so now everyone and everything is sitting down and doing nothing more then just talking while setting on a couch or chair..

While, I agree that LucasArts made some great original titles, their mid/late-90s Star Wars titles are among the best games of all time. Tie Fighter (and all related titles), Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, Rogue Squadron, Rebel Assault II are some of my favorites.

Mhm. I want another Rogue Squadron (or even better, a modern remake of the X-wing/Tie Fighter games) so bad right now. Never got the chance to play 2 and 3 because I don't have a Gamecube.

Ohhh, what I would give for another Tie-Figher game. I played that early series (Tie-Fighter, X-Wing, Tie-Fighter Vs. X-Wing, Tie-Fighter Vs. X-Wing Balance of Power...) endlessly when they game out. The latter of them all had playable B-Wings with which I was obsessed at the time. Think of how awesome a remake could be. Better graphics, good AI, cool gameplay, more options, great multiplayer. I remember playing Galaxies and doing some of the space stuff then, and it was fun. A full fledged space-combat game would be even better.

If you have a Wii you don't have to worry about getting a Gamecube inorder to play Rouge Squadon 2 & 3. Just make sure you have a GC memory card and controller.

I loved Episode I Racer! I might even whip out the old Nintendo and play that...

And I would be hoping for a new KOTOR or Battlefront, but you never know what Lucasarts will do. Let's hope that it's either one of those or an interesting new Star Wars game!

I hope it's either KotOR 3, or an FPS with HK-47 as the main character.
