What is the next action/RPG u are getting?

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 6:10 am

So, just wanna hear what ppl are looking to play next. I will stick with Rage since I bought it after trading in Dead Island which disappointed me. Rage has too but to me, is a lil more fun than Dead Island. I already preordered BF3 so that will keep me busy the next year or so but when I need a break from that, what should I play? I wont get Skyrim or Mass Effect 3 as those are too involving and my schedule is too hectic. I might pick up Dead Space 2 after Rage and DEFINITELY getting my fave series B-lands 2 in 9/2012 but what else is there????

The next thing I'll be getting will either be Skyrim or Assassin's Creed Revelations, but I'm far more excited for Mass Effect 3 and Borderlands 2. I was thinking of trying the Witcher 2 if a deal comes up on Steam, but its not very high on my list of priorities.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword next month and then Final Fantasy XIII-2 in January.

I've hard time finishing up Dark Souls before Skyrim. And after 11.11, my schedule is pretty much full until late winter.
And more games keeps coming, like my huge backlog was not already full of games I need to play.

I'll assume this is just a general "what games are you getting" thread. The next I'm getting will be Skyrim followed by some undecidable order of Final Fantasy XIII-2, Ni No Kuni, and/or Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

Ni No Kuni

i've never been much into JRPGs, but I just learned that Studio Ghibli was partly involved in the development of this game.

Did Miyazaki perform the character design?

I haven't been able to find any info about who's doing what, though I don't believe Miyazaki is attached to the game. Joe Hisaishi has done the score though, so you can expect the same excellent music as always.

Risen 2 seems a likely candidate for me.

I`ll be grabbing Skyrim on the 11th and most probably Dark Souls for Christmas. Curious to see what all this DS stuff is about.

SKYRIM! I can't believe you even asked! Kidding.

I am actually surprised to see how many people won't be playing Skyrim. Once I saw the new dragon shouts I had to get it even more than before. Also the fact that you have a dragon you can call to help out whenever you feel. There is just too many cool things you can do in Skyrim to miss out on. Anyway I'm finishing dead island and then starting BF3 tomorrow. I can't believe ign gave it only a nine. They said online was amazing but also made to many comparisons to call of duty, I hate ign. The svck!

Oh and I may sneak a few dlc's in the mix, just stuff I've never finished. Op you should get dead space 2, it really good. Personally I liked the first one better but 2 is still really good. It's just that the first one felt as it you were the character embarking on the missions, in the second you don't mainly because your character has a face and talks. Still dead space series are by far the scariest games I have ever played.

Skyrim most likely. Don't really have many other games on my radar. Besides D3/GW 2. Might try playing WoW too.

I'm picking up Battlefield 3 tomorrow, and I plan on picking up Arkham Asylum since Arkham City looks like so much fun. I also want to pick up WET since I never got to play it. I'm also waiting on my friend to finish RAGE so I can borrow it from him.

thanks for suggestions....my friend said same as u that DS1 was better than the second one but he said before I play anything, to get Fallout 3 so I think I may swing with that first....yeah, skyrim looks AMAZING but I think its too much "RPG" for me if that makes sense....I wish me and DI clicked more, maybe another time but like you, BF3 is the thing now!!! Rage will be played only as a break from BF3, if there will be one, lol....

Probably Skyrim, and probably next year at that. I have enough video games right now.

Maybe, and a big maybe, Skyward Sword; but that's only if it's amazing.

I don't even think I'll be getting Diablo 3 when it comes out, such is my dissatisfaction with Blizzard at the moment. Yay let's propagate episodic content and take 8 years to release all of StarCraft 2! I'm just waiting for them to announce Diablo 3 being released in episodes.

ME3, although I'm having serious doubts about BioWare after the abomination that was DA2.

The only upcoming game I really want is Skyrim which will keep me busy for a long time. Only other game I'm really interested in, is Doom 4 and who knows when that'll get done... not anytime soon I guess.

I was interested in Guild Wars 2 but that is slowly dying for me..... meh.

Kingdom's of Amalur is kinda on the radar. Will wait and see what happens with that.

I also have about a dozen games on my shelf that I either didn't try yet or have only played a portion of... all need to be played sometime. Recently bought Assassin's Creed I and II for $18. Still haven't installed Metro 2033 yet. Need to restart The Witcher, Mass Effect 2, Stalker, Two Worlds 2 and Dead Space due to me being stupid and not backing up saves and doing a reinstall of windows... ouch.

I'll be honest if you think Skyrim will be too much then fallout 3 may be too much. Bethesda makes amazing games but also huge RPGs. Fallout 3 is basically Skyrim to post apocalyptic. Don't get me wrong Skyrim is a much much bigger game and deeper involved but fallout3 still is an rpg. I was never into RPGs until I played fallout, it changed me forever. I'd play it because after your done your gonna want skyrim. Do not miss out on fallout 3 goty edition. I'll say one thing that will probably sell you on it, you can blow up and entire town at one point, or not, best thing is its your choice. Fallout 3 is not a first person shooter. It's in 1st view but you can't even zoom on your weapon sights. It uses a system called vats, at first i didn't get into it and I almost put it down because like you I really couldn't stand those type of games. I gave it a few more mission and next thing you know I had played over a 100 hrs and only did 4 main mission, I just spent hours roaming the wasteland collecting items and doing side missions. Whatever you do don't let anyone convince you to play fallout new Vegas first, fallout 3 needs not to be missed. I'm curious to hear from you after you start playing it. In a lot of ways it's what rage should have been. Rage was great but whatever was lacking fallout had. I picked it up on ps3 goty editon for 8 bucks at GameStop, so you can't really beat te price.

Anyway now that I see your interested in fallout 3 I think you should 100% go with that. Just give it a few hours and it won't let you down. People still call it their favorite game 3 years later. I would have no interest for skyrim if it wasnt for fallout. I'll say it once more go for fallout 3! Lol. You can't miss out.

yeah, my friend told me its an action rpg, I told him my fave game (apart from BF:BC2) was B-lands. He said I had to try Fallout then, same setting but much deeper game. U might be right in it being like Skyrim but I'm just not that into wizards, dragons and ghouls, lol. I wanna use guns, rockets, etc so I youtube Fallout 3 and it looked cool. I guess I explained it wrong, if the game is fun, I guess I will be willing to put in the 60+ hours that my friend said it took him to beat it. but he did say that you could easily put in more than that like u did if u wanted to. U guys got me excited now, if I wasnt into Rage or picking up BF3 tomorrow, Id get it ASAP. I think I'll just order it and have it sit waiting for me to be played in about a month or so b/c I have a feeling BF3 is gonna own my life the next few weeks. The MP mode in dat looks like its gonna take months to unlock all those weapons. for now, Im just gonna concentrtate on the assault and engi classes, they were the main classes I used in BF:BC2. but ur right, I have heard good things bout FO3, more than Vegas but just that the past 2 years, BC2 MP and B-lands kept me busy enuff....
