What version of SkyrimSteam am I running?

I hate to appear an idiot but I've spent over an hour trying to find what should be very simple and easy to find information. I finally gave up looking and decided to just ask in hopes that nobody will mind providing answers.
  • How do I locate/find my version # of Skyrim?
  • Does Skyrim automatically update through Steam similar to Aion's NCsoft Launcher?
  • If I must install the updates manually, where do I locate the updates and accompanying instructions?
  • Is there a location for the mods that are "approved" by Bethesda?
I've played all but the 1st Elder Scrolls games and have never had so much difficulty in finding the above information. I love the game, dislike the bugs and hate the "self-service" that seems non-existent.

1. Open game. Load a save. Hit Esc. Look at lower left corner of pause screen.

2. Yes, it should automatically update.

3. See 2.

4. I don't think so.

You can also go to your skyrim folder c:/program files/steam/steamapps/common/skyrim Then hover your mouse over TESV and it will tell you the version.

#4...they are releasing the CK (Creation Kit) most likely tomorrow...with that is the Skyrim Workshop " a place for new users to get mods" Think thats about as Official as one would ever get in a Elder Scroll game.

But as far as Approved..don't think Beth will ever do a "Stamp of Approval" on anything they did not make themselves.
