What was so special about 11:11?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 10:35 pm

It seems there is quite a lot of occult mysticism and modern cult significance given to this particular date. I realize it’s just cool being all ones and whatnot, but I am interested to know what if any real astrological or cult/occult significance this particular date may have had, or been attributed?

Also, other places it’s been referenced…

Here’s one to start: An awesome song from the band http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgjjvrtCa40 This is from the album Uber Alles, which came out in 2003.

"In medieval times, numerologists — those who searched for the mystical significance of numbers — believed all numbers had both positive and negative aspects … except for 11. In the words of the 16th century scholar Petrus Bungus, 11 "has no connection with divine things, no ladder reaching up to things above, nor any merit." Stuck between the divine numbers 10 and 12, 11 was pure evil, and represented sinners."

Actually, the WW1 armistice was signed on November 11th. It's celebrated in several countries in commemoration of that event. Having it fall in 2011 just made it more symmetrical.

WW2 veterans day

Uh, kind of really close! (unless in NZ, 11 NOV is specifically for WWII veteran's day; if so I would like to know the details, that stuff interests me)

You're likely thinking of Armistice Day, which was for World War One. WW I officially ended on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918. Today in the US, 11 November is Veteran's Day, which is for all veterans, regardless of time of service or particpation in any war.

WW II ceased in May in Eurpoe and in August in the Pacific, with Japan signing surrender documents on 2 September 1945. Victory in Europe is generally attributed to 8 May (7 May for the UK, that's a rhyme, every time!), while Victory over Japan is ascribed to 15 August

I would just like to propose, for the record, that 11:11 was the date the modern cultist corporate goons agreed to unleash the new mind invasion Human Wireless Network.

If you Google “Human Wireless Network” you can read about it. Intel and IBM have been working on the technology for over a decade.

It starts with being able to use your body as a transmitter to pass information to devices, moves through reading brain wave patterns externally to control said devices and collect biometric data for “health related” purposes, and extends straight into invasive violation of essential human rights, digging into your mind to farm for ideas and steal your intellectual property.

In IBM’s famous “5 in 5” last year, they announced that “wireless mobile brain reading technology” will be one of the major “breakthroughs” to emerge.

These zombie hive mind corporations like to claim technological advancement, but realistically how much of an advancement can it be when it is done against our will, without our knowledge or consent, or responsible long-term clinical trials in peer reviewed medicine, and used for the purpose of stealing our property?

“But I won’t have to work so hard to mash my zombie text messages!”

11:11 was NOT a step forward, for science, or for humanity, any more than thumbscrews.

Armistice Day, end of World War 1. What's sad is that all parties had agreed to sign a treaty then, but because it hadn't actually been signed, the soldiers kept on killing each other. Completely pointless death.

All human death is pointless. Even in war, it is the failure always of a few talking heads to come up with a better solution. But I see what you meant.

11.11.11, it's just a date that comes back only once per century.

it is the only day in the year that has the same number in the date and month. e.g. 11/11
there isnt a 22/22 as there is no such thing as 22nd month.
@ladyonthemoon, no, 11.11.11 doesnt come back every century. it is gone forever. It is 2012 now. Unless someone invent a 22nd month so that we can have 22/22/22, it aint coming back ever and ever and ever n eva n eva nevanevanevanvaenavavevaveav...

That's all it means to me as well. It was great to experience the date, but the game was rushed for the cool release date. Quality should not suffer because of a specific date within a monthx what is the importance of having all ones in the release anyways?

The year of the Dragon just started. They could have released the game on Chinese New Year, would still have been appropriate.

That specific date is gone yes but in a hundred years it will be 11-11-2111 just like a hundred years ago it was 11-11-1911. The last two numbers on the end is still 11 the rotation once a century is 11-11-11 but there will never be another 2011 no.

It was a catchy marketting ploy.

In the greater scheme of things, the world didn't end, the planets are still on course, we didn't get plagues of locusts and weevils, the four horseman of the apocalypse didn't come out to play.

The guys who came up with our current time system found 11 interesting because they couldn't divide it evenly into 60... it's relatively prime. 7, 11, and 13 were all considered special for this reason. Also, the product of 7, 11, and 13 happens to be 1001, which makes for nifty tricks when you work in base 10.

Sorry, it will come back in 2111: November 11th, 2111. After that it will come back in 2211, then in 2311, then in 2411, then in 2511, then in 2611, then in 2711, then in 2811, then in 2911, then in 3011. Doesn't it make once per century?

It's just numbers and numbers are only symbols, which don't exist. 11.11.11 has as much meaning as 3 or 423401.1235634

Because it looked cool in the trailer to turn the letters of "SKYRIM" sideways to make "11 11 11"
