What was the Dragon in the Trailer for?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 4:54 pm

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has any clue as to what the dragon in the Dawnguard is supposed to be doing in the trailer. It is slightly confusing me. It did look a little like Odaviing but I'm not sure.

Breaking through ice and diving underwater. It also showcases that there's other new things besides Vampire Lords included in the DLC.

It was because dragons are as awesome as a space shuttle piloted by a unicorn flying into mars at 1000 miles an hour while on fire with dancing cabbages on top of it. And in case you didn't know that is pretty [censored] awesome.

Ive said it before, i'll say it again; They're scared of vamps, so they drowned themselves.
No but really i think they feel threatened.

I don't think it is surprising to see dragons in the new dlc. They are a big feature of Skyrim and Bethesda spent along time developing them so it makes sense they would continue to use them.

That said I hope they are more balanced, i.e spawn less often and are alot tougher. It would also be an opportunity to add more dragon shouts and dragon weapons if they so choose. I am eager to know whether they play an important part in the Dawnguard story or whether they are there as part of another quest... maybe even an extension to the MQ like what Broken Steel was

The way the Dragon dived under the water it reminded me of the Volhakir. If you ever read that one book... Imortal Blood i believe it is. (Ran crossed it when hunting Vampires). Anyways in the book it mentions the Volhakir that live under the glaciers in Skyrim, only coming out at night to feed.

Now lets see...

Skyrim (Check)
Glaciers (Check)
Vampire DLC (Check)
Dragon going under glacier (Check)

I think this DLC has something to do with the Volhakir

I believe the Volhakir pass through the ice like ghosts without breaking it.... that dragon certainly wasn't very ghostly.

If anything it indicates there maybe underwater combat and more to do in the aquatic parts in general

It was a vegetarian Dragon dipping for pond weed to snack on :)

Seriously though, might be an interesting addition...doubtless there will be some set pieces to place the player directly in a situation where a dragon can burst up from underneath a frozen lake...sounds fun.

It probably only happens in that lake as part of a dawnguard quest, maybe he's helping you find a long lost secret passage under the lake

its doubtful they're adding underwater combat and having underwater dragon fights

Im not saying the Dragon is a Vampire. He could be chasing a Vampire, determined so much for the kill that he chases him underwater.

Which makes me wonder, what if the Vampires lair was underwater...
