What was your reaction when you realized the following:

The passing Priest of Mara Sylgja in Shor's Stone speaks of, is Erandur, the Priest who helps you end the nightmares that have been keeping the people of Dawnstar sleepless.

Sylgja's mention of a priest of Mara heading to Dawnstar (around the 1:54 mark):

Erandur's history:

It's little things like this that make me absolutely love the Elder Scrolls series.

I did not realize. I had Erandur as a follower for a bit after completing his quest. I remember him mostly for his sayings, "You dare fight a Dunmer?" Or something like "Wow, this place is great. I've never been here before."

The only thing I do in Shor's Stone is clear the mine of spiders so I can get the ebony ore. I did Erandur's quest once. It was okay, but I don't do followers. No clue who Sylgja is....

She is a candidate available for marriage. One of the cuter sets of pixels in Skyrim. :P

Pretty NPC who wears rags...even after marriage. She'll give you a quest to take something to her parents in Darkwater Crossing - counts as helping 1/3 people of The Rift. :P

Ah.... well.... I don't in general find female pixels of any interest for any reason (unless they belong to my toons of course). And as far as helping the folks in the Rift, I just do the stuff in Riften itself - plenty and fun. You don't get to buy the house anyway if you don't start the MQ, so it doesn't matter other than that I like the NPCs and their quests.

Well, she's one of the sweet ones so I like helping her.

I'll have to talk to her on my next toon then. There are quests I do all over the map, simply because they're neat - take Alessandra's dagger to Andurs; get Balimund's fire salts; find a mammoth tusk for Ysolda (though of course there's an ulterior motive there); get Amren's sword etc. I'll have to find Sylgja and add her to the list.

See, this right here is one of the reasons I love TES & Skyrim... I've logged over 500 hours on 4 characters, and haven't found that quest yet. There's so much stuff in the game that even after all this time, there's new things to discover. Awesome.

If you want a hint, say so.... otherwise I won't spoil it further.

[Yes.... this is WHY I play TES, and have done since Arena. I started RPGs with AD&D tabletop games back in the mid-70s, running games for my daughter and her friends. I found the SSI Gold Box games in the mid-80s.... but TES is the first series that made me FEEL the games the way I DM'd so long ago....]

Nah, it's OK - It'll be more fun to explore to find it. I know there are certain areas I tend to neglect (like dwemer ruins) because I'm not a huge fan of them - like spending as little time in Markarth as possible because I keep getting all twisted about & being unable to find anything - so I know there's plenty I probably haven't seen. It's stuff like that that keeps me playing.

Sure about that? I seem to recall buying Honeyside in a playthrough with no MQ at all. Perhaps I'm wrong though.

My current character used to do this as well, but then both Vex and Delvin sent her off to Whiterun. Once in a town, I try to do some of the other quests there as well.

I think Sylgja's mother is better looking and can be a follower... Looks great in Forsworn armor.

I was back in Shor's Stone for more ebony and had to clear out the spiders again. And Sylgia was inside and was killed by one of them. Meanwhile, some guy is over in the hole on the right mining away. I thought cleaing out the spiders was a one shot quest?

Unfortunately they respawn. :( I don't think they will kill anyone while you're away, but every time you go back you need to rush in and kill the spiders as quickly as you can.

It's a bug; they're not supposed to respawn. If you're on the PC, the Unofficial Skyrim Patch will fix this.
Edit: Just checked, USP does fix the respawning spiders issue (among many, many other things) and is still Beta. Kivan plans to possibly release first full version this weekend.

I'm even more glad that I let that guy live then; I am married to Sylgja. See, karma works even in Skyrim.

If I go back into that mine, I make sure it is after the sun goes down. By then the miners (and Sylgia) are safe, either around the campfire cooking or in their homes. Sylgia would be better if she'd get rid of those miner clothes after marriage.

That is my only complaint with her. Easily rectified for me via mods. :-D

I *think* it's because I don't go through all the stuff at Helgen. I move my toon to one of the standing stones and set up from there. No Helgen, no Riverwood, etc. Ever since I started doing that, the vanilla player-homes haven't been available. I get the dialog options with the Jarls etc. but the stewards never have the "buy" option. And Laila in Riften even though I get the "Jarl wants to talk to you" thing after helping all the folks never has the house dialog, or the thane one.

Which is fine, I don't really like any of the vanilla houses anyway. Player house mods for me!
