I killed my first deathclaw mother today and her 4 babys, I've been avoiding the quarry as I didn't want to take them on, but stumbled apon them with out realising where I was, I used the all American with ap rounds and died two times but third time lucky. next stop alpha male!
What would you use to kill an alpha male?

Get a gun with solid base damage and you will be fine. I killed him with half the guns in the game, All-American can do it too.

Anti-material Rifle + AP ammo + psyco worked real well for me

Sneak crit + a couple more shots with the multiplas for me. Haven't done it on my 2nd play through. Somebody please C-4 that mean mother.

One clip with a sniper rifle and JSP ammo. Only needed Archimedes II for mom. Veronica finished it off quickly with the unique Gauss Rifle with Max Charge MFCs while I pumped 12 gauge slugs into surviving babies.

There is a crane on one of the hills jump up to the highest level and you can shoot him all day with a BB gun and never get attacked.....wont hurt him though....

I picked them all off with the gobi scout rifle while sneaking so I got the critical bonus...

I believe the Alpha Male is not as strong as the female. But, I took him out with one .50 Incendiary Round. :flamed:

I went toe to toe with him at level 15 with Oh Baby!

I stayed at a distance and plinked away at the whole group with a sniper rifle (AP rounds) + suppressor, they felt the pain but couldn't spot me at all. My guns skill is low (even at level 26, I was role-playing it a certain way, my guns skill is like 25 or something) but my sneak skill is high. It took 3 shots to kill each one, outside of VATS range doing it through the scope, but they couldn't see where I was so they just moved about within a small area well away from me looking dazed and confused - the last one standing spotted me and charged, but I got in 3 shots before he reached me and down he went. Didn''t get a scratch on me.

The unique BB guns does quite a bit of damage on a critical.

you must do it like i do from a cliff of rock ? they dont know where you are shooting from unless you are touching the ground . if your on the side of a cliff they cant figure out where your shooting from. i found the quarry at lvl 3 and killed them all with just the guns from the first town. I think the mom is harder as well i got her from the tall thing with a coveyer belt on each side and mom clinbed up the one to my right .lol i chucked some dynomite over to her lol

I draw one out by plinking it with the marksman carbine, then finish them off with 5 shots of AP from This Machine to the head. 75 Guns, but only 4 STR so far.
