What weapons do you like in an rpg?

What weapons or ways of killing people do you like to see in an rpg? Would you like an rpg where you could not use magic but the enemies could? Would you like an rpg with just blades or guns or a mix?

Do you really have to make multiple threads?

Just use a single thread and have polls, seriously.

Any weapon that relies on my character's skills to determine hit, crit, and damage is fine with me.

Any weapon that relies on my ability to aim or react are not RPG weapons.

I want an RPG where my only weapon is my elbow. An entire combat style around only using my elbow. Using my elbow to deflect arrows and blades while simultaneously delivering bony justice to my enemies.

I just want the weapons to fit into the setting. So if it's set in an ancient civilization, then bows, daggers, swords, etc. If it's a sci-fi setting, laser guns, plasma grenades and maybe even laser swords. Depends on the character too. If I'm playing an assassin, then daggers/silenced pistols/sniper. If I'm playing a brutish warrior type, then axes, or a heavy machine gun or something.

You do have a point but different titles get different responses a person not likely to check if a thread has added a new poll and a new poll can't be voted on if it's added anyway.

I'm a sword person but any weapon that can increase my characters strength stats or Character's Ultimate Weapons are fine by me :D .

Personally my favorite weapons are the ones that kill the enemy.

Just make a single thread titled 'What do you want in an RPG?' and put the description as 'Polls inside' and use polls.

Problem solved.

I like archery and swords, but only when done right. Skyrim has a pretty good feel to the bows, Mount and Blade is slightly weird to start off with, but once you get good at mounted archery its pretty awesome, though the animations and sounds could have been better.

As for swords, I haven't played a game that does them really well; I prefer the lances in M&B, now those are satisfying. Plus too many games make the swords way too wide (Bethesda, I'm looking at you), swords should be like the swords in LOTR, now they had good design. I still use them anyway though.

The laser based weapons.

Even if it's a medieval RPG, laser weapons, I will install mods to make my crossbow look like a laser-caster.

Only offensive magic, magic like a White Mage uses is marvelous.

But when it comes to attacks, swords and bows laser weapons for me.

Pass. I don't like to mix and match on my weapons like that. I couldn't imagine playing Skyrim with lasers, let alone a crossbow laser weapon device.

Skyrim has magic and dragons, why can it have a device that projects beams of light caused by exciting a simple crystal?

If we can make fireballs with our hands, why can we have a Directed Energy Beam Projector?

It's like fallout crossed with skyrim in weapon design only a better mix.

It honestly depends on the RPG. If it makes good use of its weapons then I love them. My favourite combat in any RPG is Borderlands which has a ridiculous amount of guns, just under a million variations.

Yeah, it uses a "Procedural Content Creation System". When it makes a gun it chooses randomly from a set of stocks, sights, magazines, bodies, barrels, accessories, grips and materials. This http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Gun_Component_Charts shows the different components for each type of gun.
