What were they thinking ?

The game seems fantastic, it runs smoothly but, how are we supposed to even begin to play a game that keeps popping texture all the time ??

If you decide to charge 60USD for a game, you are assuming a big liability and saying this to everybody: "I CAN do this, I will DELIVER!". At the same time, when a customer pays 60USD he doesn't want to see texture pop-ins nor blurry textures nor other sh*t if he has a robust machine.

If you are delivering a faulty product, market is AS SUCH and sell it for 19.99USD.

And then you complain about piracy: What is the credibility of one who says will deliver an AAA title and actually delivers an unplayable mess? It is a pity, the game underneath this pile of technical mess looks awesome, but most players can't get too it in its full.

And one question remains: How can a game AAA like this be released with such a lack of QA and beta testing?

That said, one more thing:

You FAILED.

Credibility -90

Nobody let the reviewers test on a PC - they only had access to the console versions of game to review.

Unfortunately, PC review code wasn't available prior to launch.

If they'd tried on their PCs I guess the reviews might be slightly different...

That is the point. This gotta be one of the biggest scams of history of gaming.

Before release, every video you saw you were drooling and there wasn't a single texture pop-in. Nothing alike.

Now we see reality is showing its face.

Good question, because I'm not sure why they are. I'm sure some money was slipped inside the copy of the game, because the graphics can't easily get overlooked with the constant texture pop-ins that totally distract you of everything. The best thing, graphically, is the backdrop.

There are pop-ins even in the PS3 versions:

I'm on nVidia and if you look at the consoles' USER VIDEOS, you will see pop-ins all over.

Yeah the popping texture problems don't seem anywhere near as bad on PS3 as they do on PC. Really hope they fix this.

Dang, I didn't know AMD made my 8800GTS. FASCINATING.

This is a major problem with the engine, and it's incredibly obvious that attempts were made to keep this known issue under wraps until after the game released. Having bugs in a game in a major PC release is understandable -- and even forgivable if they're fixed in a timely manner. Releasing a game that is broken to the core and covering it up by only allowing reviews in a controlled environment pre-release is pitchforks time.

I just cancelled my Skyrim preorder. Not happy right now.

On consoles apparently. No reviewer played game on PCs.

All pre-launch previews that I know of were either on console or done in a controlled environment on an id-provided PC. They wouldn't even give Rock, Paper Shotgun a review copy for PC, and they're probably the biggest PC-exclusive reviewer in existence.

And their preview from today expressed the exact same texture problems.

I hate to say it. I stood up for them after Doom 3, I stood up for them during the 7 year hiatus, but id has totally jumped the shark on this one.

Console versions are fine... prolly the most gorgeous, least buggy, smoothess running game game ever released on consoles and run as promised (if not better than expected)

PC version has some texture issues at the moment for certain people, lol... they're already well on their way of fixing them, some driver related, some engine related... either way, I'd expect a fix soon.

AMD/nVidia might have bad drivers.

BUT, what about ID/Bethseda 's QA and all testing? They test the game with the same videocards and drivers we use. It's not hard to trap issues like these. For 60 bucks, you expect a thoroughly polished product.
