What will your character build be for Dawnguard?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 4:42 pm

The point of this is to see what race and such everyone will be mostly using for the DLC. For me, I have the following:

  • Race:Bosmer (Archery applies to crossbows, and these guys get bonuses for it)
  • Skill Tree Number 1:Archery
  • Skill Tree Number 2:Light or Heavy Armor, depending on what class the Dawnguard uses
  • Skill Tree Number 3:Smithing

If I roll with the vampire lords, I'll do my average citizen RP challenge. If you want more details on that I made a post on my original version of it.

Check the "Favorite build" thread for more details on mine, but I'm rolling my Arcane archer.

I know for sure i'm be a vampire lord since they seem to have specail magical ablities, but i don't know if i should start a new character for my current once trouble with low health.

Skills
Alteration; fully upgraded
Destruction; dual casting and stager effect but added damage reserved for when i find out what spells will kill dawnguard the best.
Restoration; minorly upgrade for healing
Illustion; fully upgraded

dose anyone know if the vampire lords are effected by armor enchantments?

Pure Warrior on Master. If I think I'm gonna charge groups of mages straight on..... I'm gonna have a bad time.

And I'm sure the Dawnguard will just be whatever skill you have the highest, they've done it with many other faction related armors. Or maybe there'll even be a different set for both Heavy and Light, you never know.

Hopefully their main melee weapon isn't an axe, because that's the only one I don't have perks in.

I think for Dawnguard I'm going to start a new character and stay as true to the lore as I can

Race: Nord

Tree 1: Illusion
Tree 2: One-Handed
Tree 3: Destruction
Tree 4: Sneak
Tree 5: Conjuration

In the past this is the build I use for vampires, hopefully it still works well in Dawnguard

If you are trying to stay true to the Witchhunter builds of past games, I would reccomend exchanging Conjuration for Restoration. I know that Conjuration is a listed skill for those builds, but Turn Undead was a Conjuration spell then. Now that Turn Undead is a Restoration spell, I think that Restoration is a better fit for the Archetype of a Witchhunter.

I made an Imperial Woman for this. She is going to be a secret Vampire and a political leader. Archer who uses dual wield swords on occasion. Will not use casting until Vampire Lord... Might use Bound Bow, but not yet decided....

If I made a new character :

Priestess of Meridia

One handed (how else can you use Dawnbreaker?)
Archery (please have crossbows with silver bolts, otherwise it's fire spells)
Restoration (natch)
Speechcraft (RP, Priestess, remember, need that persuasion perk just because)
Alteration (going to need that magic resistance and mage armour)
Enchanting (no trapping souls, found or purchased only)

Race: Dunmer

Tree 1: Sneak (full)
Tree 2: Archery (full)
Tree 3: Illusion (full)
Tree 4: Light Armor (enough to keep me protected)
Tree 5: One-handed (about half)

Whatever the hell you like, but you don't want to spread the perks too thin. Oblivion had 7 majors out of 21 skills, so 6 for Skyrim would be equivalent. I would say between 4 and 7 for a viable build, any more and you will have to have some 'minor' skills with only a few perks.

Thanks I though it was only like 5.

I got so excited I built a character to play Dawnguard (as a Dawnguard).

Class: Cleric
Race: Dunmer

Skill Majors:
Destruction
Restoration
One Handed
Block
Heavy Armor

Minors:
Smithing
Enchant

Big focus on turning undead, learning shouts and shield bashing. Because of the spread on Health and Magicka and Stamina I've been keeping company with Benor from Morthal (he's so cute and adorably dumb - but man can he swing a battle ax). I soften the targets up with some destruction from afar (this is fun if you've successfully turned them and they're running from you in that hilariously dainty way draugr run). If I run low on magic, out comes the mace. Shield bash is also a lot of fun, mix in a couple of shouts and even high level opponents are getting staggered on several occasions. I am having a blast playing this character. Dawnguard will give me an excuse to get her into some high levels, something I have a hard time sticking with, usually.

I like you and your well-placed meme

My main build is going to be a pure mage, with focuses on Destruction, Conjuration and Illusion. My alt will be rolling as a Paladin with all the main warrior perks and a little restoration thrown in. I wasn't going to do archery with him until I saw the DLC, and I really want to try out the crossbows.
